What's set rally point do and how is it useful?

set Rally Point is created by clicking on a map, it is that point on the map where the newly created unit will move automatically to that particular point, this option is for a individual city,

Set Continental Rally point is set for all the cities on a particular continent,
i.e unit created from all the cities on that particular continent will move to that particular location.

These option are useful during war times, Select the option and place it on a city which is close to ur enemy border, why? because as soon as the units are created they will move to that particular city
this is helpful when u hav large number of cities in your empire. Its kinda reuniting your units once created and that point can act as a starting point for your newly created units.

But see to it that those cities rally point are not selected which are creating workers or settler because u dont want ur non combat units moving around undefended near enemy territory and my fall prey to emeny units.

Sorrry if u find any mistake in my language...

Edit: Cross post with DaOne, I'm talking about continential rally points

If you set a rally point, all military units built thereafter will go there automatically after being built. I use it sometimes for sea-borne invasions as it helps to direct all new military units to a specific place to wait to be transported by ship to the new landmass.

How do you get a single city to produce units to a rally point? you can't select cites, so do you select a unit that is in a city, and then place a rally point?

EDIT: never mind, answered my own question.

Right click on a particular city, you will get a menu, in that menu select "Set rally point" after selecting it your cursor will change to an arrow mark then click on the map where u want ur unit to gather.. thats it all ur uint from that particular city will move to that particular point.

In a game I was just playing, when I would choose shift D for cleaning up pollution, all of the workers would go to the exact same city every time and just wait there for orders. This wasted the worker turns because they went to a point I was just developing during and after a war. all the pollution was happening in my old established areas.

With the recent discussion of Set Rally points. it occured to me that I may have done that and at one point I ticked the [clear rally point] but it didn't help. The workers were still going there at the end of the game (a short while later)

Does anyone have a suggestion about what I may have done to cause this?

My last mis-click was fixed when I re-loaded the game... is that likely to work with this problem? (((sigh)))

Wow, thats...wierd. Was this new, developing area on a different continent than your main cities?
But, I don't think a rally point could do it, because it is only for new units, not automated workers. Could it have been a bug mabey?

If they are set to clean pollution and they cannot reach any polluted tiles or there is none, they park in a town. I find this annoying as I then have to look for them.

I do not use automated cleaning, it is just as easy to park them near the capitol or some place I choose in stacks. Then I can grab a stack to clean or do what every I need and return them when done.

If they park in a town with units and I need the units, it is a drag to scroll down the units, so I avoid it.

I too set them in stacks to await pollution but I did have some new territory to develop after removing the Japanese menace from the land.

I use shift D when I have several spots or lots of stuff going on. It is a quick way to get them where they need to go ...usually

It is Strange that you are building Modern Armor and Stuff and Researching Espionage

Quicky question-if there's no ROP agreement and you have milatary units in an AI's borders at the start of a turn and you declare war, it's considered a ROP rape-correct? Is it also the case for non-milatary (worker, scout) units? I assume it's ROP violation for arty.
