I'm glad Christopher Columbus took a chance with his "Suicide Galleys"......or there might not have a been what we now call the US of A!

That's the one (with Perrenland, Furyondy, Great Kingdom, Scarlet Brotherhood, Iuz, etc.). I'll try the other forum too - thanks!Welcome to the Forums, WFB. I have not found one either. Are you talking about the one that came out in the 1980s? That would be a good map to have some fun with. I have the boxed set. You might want to post this question in the Creation and Customization Forum main page.
For cavalry, besides Hussars, you can use Dragoons, Guards and Life Guards, Stradiots (the precursors to the Hussar), and Lancers, along with the city of origin, say for the British, whom I think you will be playing shortly in your A to Z games, the Norfolk Light Dragoons, or simply 3rd Royal Light Lancers. Hmm, all this is getting my creative juices flowing. More fun coming up.
I go with Seafaring civs, so get the extra movement and lower odds for sinking, plus play on archipelago and continent maps, so I need to explore a lot. .
100 x 100, 130 x 130, and 160 x 160Can anyone tell me the grid sizes of the "standard", "large", and "huge" map options for Civ3?
Thanks for the help!100 x 100, 130 x 130, and 160 x 160
Your custom map doesn't need to be fixed to any of these.
I just found this really neat title screen and thought you might like to have it in your game as well.

I think it is the one I am going to be using...ok just cuz I like blue. I expect better of you though
I just do not like the title screen I have for Complete so I had to find a better one.
OH no! the file is 404 arrrrrggghh!
I'm going to play with it to see if it will work and play well with others
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the thought, Darski. It would be a good start screen for me. And for a bit of added information, the picture is that of a US Sumner-class destroyer under attack by a Japanese Judy divebomber being used as a Kamikaze.
In my recent game I was in the Rex phase and wanted to build another settler.
according to the numbers, it would take 6 turns for a settler and 8 turns to get to pop. 3. Well I didn't want to do that so I decided that I would build a warrior for 3 turns and then build my settler. 3 for a warrior and 6 for the settler makes it 9 turns with growth at turn 8.
I built my warrior without paying close attention for the 3 turns. I was not aware of any major change in what was happening in Paris at the time. When the warrior finished and the settler came up it said: settler in 6, grow in 7.
Can someone give a reasonable explanation that I just missed in this chain of events?
