Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Does anyone if there are any other 'hidden' civs in the game ala Austria?
Not in the regular game. The Game of the Month once featured Austria, and Polynesia has been in there as well.
Modders can easily replace an existing civ with another one, including replacing the leaderhead graphics, unique unit etc. In Creation an Customization you'll find many modpacks with about everything replaced, also tech tree, resources and you name it. I'm not sure that's what you're looking for, but you can always have a peek at that part of the forums of course.

I've heard that leaders change their appearance depending on the era they're currently in. Could anyone be so kind as to post a link leading to images of all the leaders in their different outfits?

Thanks in advance! :D

Yeah, basically I just wanted to see if there were any 'official' hidden civs, ones made by Firaxis but not used. Kinda have an aversion to fan made ones as their balance in game may not be correct.

Check the Easter Eggs topic Mike, but the only ones I know of are in the Scenarios.

For GigaNerd C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization III Complete\Art\leaderheads

Yeap, no worries, I looked up Wikipedia no less and found that Austria was the only extra civ.

If you look at some of the SG's that were played as conquest, you will see many screen with leaders of differnetr era's, with different looks. The best best are the 31 civs games.

Ok... So you know how in the Shogun Conquest You can upgrade your king for the risk factor?

There has GOT to be a way to do that in a normal game xD

i just dont know how to do it.... do you guys?

My .biq mysteriously disappeared, I have an active .sav that was created from that .biq, is there anyway to easily recreate the .biq or am I hosed?

If you are talking about the C3C biq that comes with the install, just reinstall. If you are talking about a BIQ that you made using the editor I am not sure. I think I remember Grampos had a tool that could import, not sure, if it could do that or not. You could try it.

Failing that check with Steph in Creation as he is making an editor and may know.

To Zurikiev: Shogun works from its own biq file, and the biq file determines the game rules. The only thing you can do is opening up the editor and adjust the rules here to how you want them. That is not difficult, but can be a bit time consuming.

You would have to modify the technologies (first) to allow upgrades to the King units at various technologies, and then create/modify the King Units so they had their own upgrade path. Of course, I have no idea what that would do to trying to play a regular game.

If you save an edited biq it will by default go in your scenarios folder, to be accessed in game by choosing 'CivContent'. It won't have any effect on a regular game.
You don't need to modify any technologies, unless you want to create a special technology for each these unit upgrades (which is I think how the Shogun scenario works, if I recall correctly). Each upgrade will be a different unit in the editor though, with its own prerequisite - not necessarily a tech, although I think that would be your choice.
Besides creating all these new units in the editor (they can use the same animations, though) you also need to create lines in the 'PediaIcons' file.
It's a lot of work if you want to do this for all civs. I think there are 31 in the game? If you want to give every king unit 3 possible upgrades you would be looking at 31 x 3 = 93 new units to be created, technically speaking. Especially if you haven't added units before, this is quite a job. For how to add units look for a tutorial called 'Adding units to C3C' by Colonel Kraken.

How do you get people to Form a military alliance with you? I realize that you have to build an embassy with them, but I can't get them to Align with me. Do they need to be Gracious toward me?

What do you mean cannot access. Do you see them when you select content? If not do you see them in the Conquest scenario folder? Are they abc.biq?

No two the first two, and yes they are biq. I am using Vista, which I think might be the source oh this problem.
