Enter a number and you get the map corresponding to that number.

"Show fewer multiplayer pop-ups" doesn't seem to do much - there are already almost nil pop-ups anyway. That option is currently turned off on my games and yet I get very minimal pop-up action. Would love it to just be a normal game in multiplayer...

I think the only player that gets popups is player #1

EDIT (answer updated/corrected): I don't know the option 'show fewer pop-ups', but I know that in PBEM games the last human player gets the pop-ups. I assume that it is the same for the other MP variants (although I'm not sure, haven't played a lot of other types of MP - only PBEM). If you are not the last player in the row you have to live with that. You also won't see the AI move :(

The last player won't get ALL info though. An example is a message that your human opponents failed to steal a tech and were caught by you. It is -in PBEM- often a rule to include battle reports and other lacking info.

Hi, I just started playing my plain old civ III and have a question that I can't seem to find any answer. On the Civilization Intelligence Reports page, it mentions favorite government and shunned government. What are the benefits if I choose my government to be my favorite geovernment and what are the penalties if I choose my government to be my shunned government? I have been looking up webpages for at least 2 hours now. Help!!!!

@HeinzGuderian: welcome to CFC :)

The favorite and shunned governments only affect the AI's attitude towards you. So when one of your AI opponents is the Mongols (with a favorite government Despotism), they will be more polite to you. Bamspeedy wrote an excellent article about AI attitude .

There are no penalties or bonusses for you when you choose the shunned/favorite government of your tribe.

You have no idea how much that meant to me. It was like someone cracked the enigma code in WWII. That was a HUGH relief. Thank you so much! :)

Yeah, the fav/shunned government thing doesn't make any sense. Probably just another board-room idea that never reached full potential (thank god).

I always thought it was what governments the AI would prefer to adopt, but Aggie's response makes sense too...

Oh, and a quick question of my own...

SGLs - Scientific Great Leaders, I presume... Are these only in Conquests? I'm playing with PTW and have never heard of them, but have heard about them quite a bit on the forums. Out of curiosity, could somebody explain them to me please, even if they are Conquests-only.

Also, on a related subject, is it possible to have more than one MGL at a time with just the PTW expansion?

Yes, SGLs are only in C3C

No, but you can have more than one in any given turn. I'll leave it as an exercise for the student to figure out. ;)

Hmm... I think even I can see a solution to that one ;)

Actually, whilst I'm here - can you move armies in transports? I've tried moving full armies and I know they can't move, but what about armies that have not yet had units added?

In fact, I'd like to know a lot more about armies in general (specifically combat, since that's what they are there for) - any idea where I can find a suitable thread? I'd hate to ask a dozen more questions about them here if there's a suitable explaination already out there!

Yes you can, but you have to have room for: 1) leader, 1) Army unit and one each for every unit in there. So a three MA army will need space for five.

Are you sure about that Turner_727? I thought an army populated with 3 units needed a transport capacity of 4.

I was going to say what Dianthus said too. You should not add fourth units to armies if you want to ship them using galleons.
Also there's an article in strategy articles (I believe in the War Academy too) relating to armies.
@Turner_727...I tried turnip green and I can still read it.

Am I doing something wrong? I can airlift tanks, infantry etc. from one continent to the next using airports in the two cities but I have to transport workers by sea. Is there a way of getting workers moved vast distances quickly in the same way as military units?

You are doing nothing wrong. You can change the settings of the worker in the editor and check the flag to allow them to be airlifted. Other than that: you need to sail them to the other continent.

Is there any reason why it's set to non-liftable by default? And are there any other such units (ones which you would expect could be airlifted but can't)? And should I even be responded to quick questions with more quick questions?!
