At this point you could have been getting war happiness. This occurs when another Civ declares war on you and nothing is done to change the war happiness to war weariness.Darzee said:... until the Sumerians did a sneak attack which did virtually nothing...
Capturing an enemy city wouldn't affect the war weariness. I guess you lost some units to the AI, or the AI captured a city back. It's possible to avoid war weariness in Democracy, even to reduce it. The war weariness will go down if there are no enemy units in your territory and none of your units in enemy territory at the end of the turn and nothing occurs to increase war weariness again.Darzee said:and began to go over to the Sumerian home continent and see what I could do. I captured a city but nearly every city of my own erupted into civil disorder. How do you deal with this type of war weariness?

Do you just avoid war entirely under this government?
It's much easier to use another government if you're planning to stay at war with Sumeria. I would tend to use Monarchy or Communism, and change to that government before starting a war phase of the game. As a non-religious Civ it will take a while to change, so it might be better to make peace for now. War weariness is seperate for each AI, so making peace with the Sumerians would mean that the Sumerian war wearines wouldn't affect you so you could continue warring with other Civs.Darzee said:Should I change governments?
Darzee said:Thanks a lot guys, I ended up making peace and will probably go for space race win.
fe3333au, you said something about having worker gangs. That makes a lot of sense but how do you put them into a stack like that? I'm sure it's very easy and I'm just missing the button somewhere. Again, thanks!
