Might be the wrong forum, but is it impossible to make a scenario with no time limit? I went into editor and generated a random map, then went into time options under "scenario" in the edit menu. I put time limit off but when I go to the victory status screen it says I've played 180 out of 540 turns. What gives?

I'm probably just too clueless to find it, but I was wondering how to run Civ 3 in windowed mode?

Help!!!!!

There is a way, sorta. But it's not the traditional windowed mode.

In your civ3/ptw/conquests.ini file, add the lines:

Video Mode=1024
KeepRes=1

Then make sure your res is higher than 1024x768. This should force the Civ3 screen into the upper left corner, giving you limited access to the windows desktop.

Probably better to just alt-tab to each window. The above method doesn't allow you to resize, doesn't allow you to minimize. The only advantage I'm aware of with it is you get immediate access to the start menu and task bar. But it's really not that much quicker than hitting the Windows key.

You can't turn the time limit off. You can set it to a maximum of 1000 turns. But you can continue playing after any victory condition is met, including histograph. You just won't continue to add score to it.

If you want to minimize civ3 and somehow get the task bar showing up, you could click the 'show desktop' icon thingie there.
Press the win key, click the icon and you look innocent while civ3 hides wishfully in the task bar untill boss left the room.:mischief:

Is it possible to win a by conquest or cultural victory if you continue playing after the time limit?

I mean if you have the highest score and the time limit passes can you still win by conquest/cultural victory? If not then what's the point of keeping on playing?

What do you reckon is the best civ to play on deity?

Thinking about an archipelago map, 70% water.
Candidates: Dutch, French, Iroquois, Persians.

I am looking for a deity win, and any win condition will do for me.

Cheers for the help.

Good Question! :)

As for playing past the limt, sometimes you want to win by diplomacy so you play nice until the vote is taken and then after the vote is all done, you pull out the ICBM's and send a gift to Shaka as compensation for the PITA he had been the entire game.

Hi Guys,

If you play the world map can you still ask the computer to place each race in their 'real' starting location? I've been looking but see how to do this.

Many thanks.

In the editor, you can assign each starting position to a certain civ.

If i have uncovered some land, and it goes back to being greyed out but not black. Will new reousrces that i can see after researching them, be seen under the greyed area or do i have to 'see' te area again before i can see new reousrces that have popped?

WindowsKey-D also does this immediately. :)

Can anyone point me to where I can find tables with the full list of Civilizations and units? (preferably in Excel)

I've tried in the Info Center, but the Civ list is not complete (nor is exportable).
