When you choose air superiority for a fighter, does it attack when it is in that city's limits or is it based on the range of the fighter. Will it defend another city that could be 2 cities away.
The range I believe is half the normal range of the fighter...

When establishing trade links, i assume it has to be capital city<---> capital city?

Also, how do you establish overseas boat links, as you cant build roads on the ocean...

Yes, a continuous road from your Capital to his Capital. (Cannot go through a War Zone though.)

Harbor-to-Harbor acts as a Trade Route providing your boat could theoretically safely traverse the necessary water squares between your Harbor and his. (viz. You have "learnt" to navigate Sea and Ocean squares, if applicable.)

I guess Airport-to-Airport works too..........But planes are my weak suit! :)

Airport to Airport does indeed work too. It also bypasses enemy territory that would normally block a sea route. At least, that's the way I remember it.

Hi Mongol

I tried to figure out how the remove the forces worked. (For C3C, but I guess its the same for all versions)

This is what I come up with:
Each turn there are increase in points for each unit in enemy boarder.
Base value : 128
Multiply by :
1/8 for none attacker
1/4 for units on water
2 for units on land next to city
The enemy can force you out when 512 points are accumuated, then the points are reset. If, on the other hand, you deside to leave voluntary. The points will be halved for each turn.

Ex:
A warrior can be thrown out after 4 turns, or 2 if next to city.
For a worker or scout the number of turns are 32 or 16.
A boat loaded with 1 unit can be forced to leave after 8 turns.

Actually, it can ;). You can trade with Civ A through Civ B's territory so long as only yourself or Civ A are at war with Civ B, not both at war.

Sorry if this is not the 100% correct thread but I figure the traffic's heavy in here so somone will have a quick answer.
When trying to upload a .sav I constantly get "Data IO op.sys.error: DATE" in the middle of the upload, and when I post a .sav a similar thing happens to the one trying to open it. This is clearly, after reading in the tech. support forum, a matter of corrupt files, but how to fix it? My nice SG will mess up if I can't get up-/downloads to work

Well, as you said, it sounds like some kind of file corruption going on. I'd try to find an alternate way of exchanging the file. Gmail, Yahoo, they both have fairly big email accounts (and Yahoo will be going up to 1 gig mailbox size next month). Find a website where you can host the file. Change what it is you're doing to get the file across. Of course, you can only do so much.

You might want to try going back a turn or two and seeing if it changes anything.

Well I have a gmail account and it sure is spacey. Sorry to say I don't really understand how I could use it in this case. If I'm on this site and want to load a .sav the only way I know of is to clic it and say "save" and the choose my saves folder in the conquest map. Don't get how gmail could help me there? One thing 'thou, ainwood posted this as a reply to the one having the problem:

Might be a bit late, but I found and fixed the error - it has changed "TILE" to "TILM" for some reason.
Had you used Gramphos' multitool to change anything on this save?
Attached Files Fixed Scheer of the Germans, 1030 AD.SAV (208.9 KB, 1 views)

The file attached "Fixed Scheer of the Germans" does work!?

My bad, I thought you said "PBEM". Looking back, you said "SG".

There is the upload file feature near the bottom of the page. You'd then link to it via http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads9/<your file name here>.

But you might want to PM ainwood and see if he can work some magic on it.

I think it has to do with territory expansion.

It also has to do with cultural achievements, military conquests/defenses, science, the whole deal.

In a recent Regent game as Russia (PTW version), two of the huts that I popped resulted in getting a conscript horseman for my use.

Is it level specific to get horsemen instead of warriors or was it just a lucky RNG?

If I had been playing as the Hittites and had discovered the Wheel could I have gotten a 3-man Chariot instead?

I think that, when barbs have horses, you can get horses. That is, when HBR is out. And the Hittites will pop a horseman, not a 3MC, I think, like how the Sumerians get warriors from huts.

Im new to civ and all,
what does it mean when your poulation number turns yellow>?
I take that its bad in some way but i dont know.
Thanks

Yellow number of population means that the city is not growing. There is either 0 surplus food, or the max size is reached and the foodbox is full.

...and i believe a red number means that city is in Disorder? Is that right?

And another question...

What good is bombardment? So far it just seems that theyve taken the early powerful attack units (catapult, cannon), and made them totally useless! At best they take one hp off, but most of the time nothing happens. It doesnt even say they missed, just....nothing happens! And also, what does the bombard figure mean? Does something with a higher bombard number take of more than one HP? Or......or what??
