The AI cannot use the luxury slider. So, once Temple/Cath/Col/MP had their effect, every additional citizen is unhappy - unless they have luxuries.
So, for the AI you could roughly say "1 Luxury = 1 more citizen in every city", since that'll allow them to turn a clown into someone effectively producing shields.
Especially when they're hurt by War Weariness at the same time, they often can afford only 3 or 4 citizens not being Clowns...while the human would simply raise the Lux tax to like 30% in that case.

Dropping a nuke on another city is a good way to get the rest of the AI in a war against you.

Assuming you 'do it right', i.e., declare war before dropping, no ROP rape, that kind of thing, you won't suffer a rep hit. The AI generally doesn't like nukes, and they have been known to declare war against you when you drop a nuke. I've seen them not when I'm a lot stronger than them, or we're in a MA against the civ that got nuked.

I like war.... But thanks for the answer

If I give another civ a city do they get the units that are in it? I can't give tanks to Spain but I was thinking I could load a city with them and give that to them. They're holding down the Azteks but don't have oil to build tanks. And if they haven't discovered tank warfare yet what happens?

No - gifting cities leave them empty. If you have any troops in the city you are going to gift away - they will automagically be transported to your capital.

:)

well at least you keep the units. Unlike when a city deflects where you lose any units in it to the person who now owns it. I would never give a city and why would you want to give away units. doesnt sound like a good move since giving away units make s you vulnerable.

Tearor: Let's say you just took a city with your final attacker, a red-lined swordsman and got a Great Leader and the AI has 3 Veteran Knights about to retake the city. If you were to gift it to a weak neighbor, your sword & GL would automagically (like that word, credit to TheTrooper) be transported to your capital, where he could safely rush a wonder (or FP or army if C3C).

It's also a good way to avoid the war weariness hit of losing a city.

I'm going for a diplomatic victory. Spain voted for me in 3 of 5 UN elections and the only thing holding up the win is the Hittites. The game boiled down to the Aztecs and Hittites against Spain and me (Greece). I have about 150 tanks but it's worthless against the Aztecs. I just made a last ditch effort and they wiped out about 50 of my modern paratroopers , 30 tanks and about half the fleet I sent against them. The Hittites only have about 7 cities left so I was hoping if I gave Spain tanks they could keep the Azteks busy while I knock off the Hittites.

hello,

i just started playing the incas and would like to
know how to trigger a golden age. all help appreciated.

thanks!

You initiate your golden age by either winning with your UU (chasqui scout) against a non-barbarian, or by building one or more wonders that have traits corresponding to your civ traits (expansionist, agricultural).
You can check the civilopedia to see what traits each wonder has.

you can either build a combination of wonders which fit your civ's two special traits or win a battle against an enemy civilization with your unique unit. those are the only two ways I know of but im still learning a bit.

if spain is not AI, make a deal, declare war, spain captures the tanks, sign peace treaty??? :crazyeye:

Thanks for the luxuries answers :)

Another quick jargon buster please: What is this REX / RAX that folk keep using in the forums? What does it mean when people say they out-Rexed their rivals?

well, i figured that winning with the chasqui will
get me a very early golden age and there seems
to be no agricultural/expansionist great wonder.
guess i'll just go on building expansionist
wonders and see how it goes...

@Rambuchan: REX - Rapid Early Expansion, Rax - Barracks
@shpigula: collosus (exp) + hanging gardens (agricultural) will give you a GA (just an example of course) - there are other combinations.

Military GL's can't Rush wonders... only small wonders, FP's or Palaces's...FYI
