Are you going to introduce your city naming method now, EMan? ;)
I got a good chuckle out of that Tomoyo.

No is the Quick Answer to that one............although it might be pretty useful to show the thread or the applicable Post (Volunteer Tomoyo?), so that if GorfTheWanderer et al are serious about chopping a lot (or even all) of trees he/they can keep an easy track of which tiles have been de-forested! ;)

I think the palace doesn't get the shield bonus either....but I could be wrong. I haven't tried that in a while.
Correct!
No shield bonuses to a Wonder (Great or Small...including Palaces) or Wealth.........however, the shield bonus is not necessarily lost!!.........PROVIDING you have another city within the "20-square cachement" of the deforested tile that is eligible to receive the shields. (viz. The City is Not building a Wonder or Wealth!)

Footnote: If your city accepts the Forest-Shield-Bonus, you cannot change that City's Production to a Wonder!....until production is complete using the bonus shields. ;)

@TruePurple: The easiest way is to look in the Civilopedia....there's a list for Small Wonders and one for Great Wonders! ;)

Basically, a Great Wonder can only be built once per game; a Small Wonder can be built (and re-built!) by EACH civilization. (If a GW is destroyed, it cannot be re-built.) :)

Is there a trick to deal with wasted wonder shields? AI keeps beating me to wonders yet sometimes not before I've invested a truckload of shields to it. If you have another wonder to fall back on. I guess you could do that. But another AI might have gotten that as well.

I have no idea what nations are working on what wonders or how close they are to finishing. Unlike AC you get no message alerting you to wonder progress (X has started on X wonder.. X is almost finished with X wonder..)

If you build wonders in a city other than your capital then you can switch to Palace when you get beat to a wonder. If you're lucky that will give you time to research a tech that gives access to another wonder.

Actually, you do get notification.

If you have an embassy with a civ, and they start a wonder, you hear about it.

Also, regardless of embassy or not, you can always check the F7 screen, and it will tell you who's building what wonder.

Losing wonders is what taught me to micromanage....got tired of just losing a wonder because of govenor inefficency.

To see the popups, like Turner said, you need an embassy, but in your preferences you also have to have "Show Wonder Initiation Popups" selected. F7 is a much better view, though, as you can see who and where, so you can get a rough estimate of their shields per turn.

Yeah, and then when you go to investigate the city, you need an embassy to do it. Or plant a spy, if you're at war and have the tech.

I know what the difference is between them, but looking up the item in civipedia doesn't tell you either, and its a hassle to have to go into main civopodia and check to see which list its under over and over.

No indication somewhere of which kind a wonder is?
Generally, Small Wonders are much cheaper. There's also a much shorter list of them: Forbidden Palace, Iron Works, Heroic Epic, Military Academy, Wall Street, The Pentagon, Apollo Program, SDI Defence, Battlefield Medicine, and Intelligence Agency. (And Secret Police HQ in C3C... may have missed some new ones if they're in C3C, as I haven't played it that much.) Everything else apart from those is a Great Wonder. ;)

Yep, as Turner said, you DO get notification with an embassy. But even WITHOUT an embassy, you can still go into the Wonder Screen (F7), and see which civs (and which cities) are building wonders, and if you really want, pay gold to investigate each city and see how many turns it's got left until completion of its wonder. ;)

In the preferences, there's an option "Show Wonder Initiation Pop-up" that you need to check.

The default is 'ON' though, I'm fairly sure...

If we trigger multiple wins on the same turn, which one will be recorded first, second, third, and so on in the end?

For example, you have a domination limit of over 66%, eliminate the last civ, rush the last spaceship component, and also will have over 20K culture in one city by the next turn. Technically, you have won by Conquest, 20K culture, domination, and space race in this game, but which one will be recorded in the end? Does anyone know the correct order?

What is CivAssist?

Thanks,

Stunner :goodjob:

:sigh:.....all that time spent searching.

That's what I found....

Thanks to both of you!:) Since there are two types of culture victory (100K culture and 20K culture), which one of the two would have higher priority than the other? Thanks!:)

I can remember Bamspeedy had a game called 5CC 100K, in which he would reach 20K with five cities in 2050 AD. He succeded and was rewarded for a 100K, so that must the priority.

You could always look at SirPleb's GOTM18 where he played for all possible victory conditions from the start.
