Is there any way to remove the Civ mini-map?

For some reason, the AI LOVES to build cities on the south edge!!! And if it is hard to see, when it is on a corner (left or right)... it becames quite difficult!

Not only we have to deal with the military issues (how many units, how many artillery, etc), but also with guessing how to go (maybe it simulates crappy maps?).

The delete key toggles the info boxes and action buttons on and off.
Thanks didn't know that

Greetings one and all. Just bought Civ 3 Complete. Long time strategy gamer that had to take a break because I just had my first child (well, technically my wife did most of the work). With the kid, game time is limited now so I can't try out all the maps and mods and all of that. So, if you all wouldn't mind posting the best downloads for me, I would appreciate it :)

Currently at work and trying to plan out an attack

can I use artillery inside of a transport to bombard?

IIRC only H'wacha's can bombard from ships.

If you sign a mutual protection pact which then draws you into war with someone who you have a trade deal going, does this affect your reputation in the same way as if you declared war on them yourself?

Thanks.

Is there a way to remove some of the action buttons on the screen? They obstruct the picture of the unit...

Game editor help please. How do I save the changes I’ve made, after I change the game rules, in both ptw and conquest games. (I play both) it says to save to a bic file, I just want to change rule but play a normal game. (Click new game and set up your world) I’ve tried to do this but it never works. I would like to play a game where you never get gunpowder or change waste and corruption is low thanks for the help.

you can toggle off/on the buttons and minimaps by pressing <Del>.

do the rules changes, save the scenario (now it has become one ;) ) and start the game over "Contents".

I think it does, as you broke the deal, because YOU are the one that is 'declaring war' (even if you are forced too).

I don't think so, but you might try turning off the "advanced unit buttons" in the Preferences (Control + P). I don't think that takes those away though, so I doubt it.

For Conquests, you can save it in your .../Conquests/Scenarios/ folder, and when you load up C3C, click "Civ-Content" from the menu and select your scenario with changed rules. That is the best way. If you want to edit it so clicking "New Game" has the changed rules, you'll have to open your conquests.biq file in your .../Conquests/ folder, (COPY IT FIRST TO THE DESKTOP IN CASE YOU WANT TO SWITCH BACK), and edit the rules. Then save it, as this is the file that C3C uses when it makes a "New Game".

edit: Crosspost with blueblox.

Does anyone know whether it hurts your rep if you start a war with an AI who extorted a resource (within 20 turns)?

only if you know other civs at the time.... I just had a trade agreement with japan and accidentally hit the enter key when a negotiation for a MA against japan came up.... I declared war... end of agreement.... everyone except the hitites got anoyed.... So I would have to say yes.... I agreed to a deal... and broke it :( I would assume this would apply for extortion deals too. The only way it won't hurt is if you don't have contact with any other civs at the time the deal is broken.... If they don't know you they can't get mad at you.
