How do u take a screen shot?

find your "Print Screen" key on your keyboard (usually above the "insert, home and page up keys").....hit it, then go to a graphics programs, a LOT of computers have "paint" (windows program). Once you have "Paint" open, open document and "paste" That should give you the screenshot :)

I thought there was a way to display the civ name in the info box under each city. Am I imagining something?

Yes, go onto the preferences screen and choose "Colour Blind Help" :)

I don't like it though...

I did try that and it didn't work. However, I just found out that it won't start to work until you update or move the screen. So I was going into the preferences, making changes, and exiting preferences and seeing no changes. So anyway, I have it working now, thanks.

Another question... You guys should start charging me:)

With for example Hoover Dam Project we get a hydro plant in every city on that continent.. With the Pyramids we get a granary.

Now if I build say a hydro plant in a city which is already benefiting from the hoover dam, am I wasting my money or will I get double benefit.

cheers

You are wasting money. You could build a Nuclear Plant which has a higher bonus than the Hydro Plant.

Yep. Even if you didn't build HD, no plant (except for nuclear plant) will boost your shield output; e.g. when a city has a hydro plant, a solar plant would just 'replace' it.

Every other, similar wonder (Pyramids etc) will remove the build option from the list (alas, this is even true for temples/ToA in C3C).
So the plant stuff is confusing.

Btw, no-one will charge you for asking questions in a thread that is designed to ask questions.:)

Thanks for the responses guys... Pity that there are no other bonus effects... Seemed like last night all I did in the game was build hydro plants (which are now wasted) - and clear pollution...

It basically means that you sign an ROP (Right of Passage) so that you can move your troops into position next to their cities before you declare war.

ROP means 'Right Of Passage Agreement'.

Foreign leader allows you to move through his country, which lets you eventually benefit from roads/railroads there. That's not the case if haven't got a ROP, also you would be constantly asked to go out.

A 'well-performed' ROP rape means that you exploit the ROP: move all your attack forces to the right places (e.g. next to enemy cities) and then attack...
You get a reputation hit in the process. Further exploit: circumvent rep hit by letting them declare war, e.g. make a risky spy mission or attack a MPP ally of them in a 'honorable' way.

Btw, an ai would consider your declaration of war with units of yours actually being placed in their territory as kind of a ROP rape, too, even if you haven't signed a ROP (that is, you get a rep hit and you'd have a hard time sign a ROP afterwards).

now I see. and I think it is unfair, I actually did this once. I surrounded their capital and stacked units on all their strategic resources, then attacked their ally. They didn't have a chance. I'm not sure what is the most realistic, but I liked in civ 2 how when you cancelled alliances then all units were relocated. Anyway, thanks for the quick responses.

Question:
I've never used Snoopy's terrain modpack before but want to. According to the thread for it, it's already included on my PTW disk and it is under the scenarios. Will launching that scenario give me a 'normal' game with full recongition/implementation of later installed patches?

i just installed the patch (after backing the originals up) and it lets me play normal games. just copy and run. it really is a lot better.

Many thanks to you both for your quick answers.

superslug,

If you want to always play with sn00pys you should back up your original artwork files and copy the sn00py graphics in to the main PTW art directory.

This way you can still play other scenarios with sn00pys, and you don't need to go via the scanarios loading screen to play normally with it.

In the editor, is it possible to add text to certain parts of the land & water? Such as adding the text "atlantic ocean" to a body of water.

A similar thing was done in the GOTM games.

If possible, how do you do this?

In GOTM it was done by adding a resource that didn't affect the tile in any way other than to show the image with the text on it. I've no idea how to add a new resource though, so someone else will have to help you with that bit!

How do you get Mobilization of economy for war to work. I have nationalization. And read that all you need to do is hit a bar in the domestic adviser screen. But I can't find one. Playing ptw v1.21f.

@moondoggi: There's no mobilization button on your F1 screen? Do you have a screenshot? Also, I have no idea if that was a problem with 1.21 but it's always a good idea to play with the latest patch...

I have indeed gotten hooked enough on the pack to want to use it all the time now, so that's exactly what I wound up doing. I also partly did it to save myself a few extra clicks when generating new maps (which I do several hundred times before finding one I like).

I did forget to backup the files, but reinstalling the game and patches is never a problem.
