Hi,

I have had this problem a few times before, but now I can see it clearly on a screen shot, so I thought I would ask here. Hopefully, from the uploaded screen shot, you can see that the is a direct link from my harbour (Centralia) to the inca harbour (Tikakawku), and that is directly linked with their capital. However, I still cannot trade with them! Any ideas?

[EDIT] removed the attachment, cos I was being stoopid

TIA

Stranger and stranger, if I have a revolution (from despotism) I can trade the next turn, but if I do not, I still cannot??!!? No eyed deer what is going on here.

BTW, this is conquests, 1.15

Thanks Sparrow. I really cannot belive I was being so stupid. Still does not explain how the next turn behaviour varies with whether I have a revolution or not. The germains (next to me) start a war with the dutch (next to the germains) so I guess it could be a random seed issue with them.

So, how do I rempve my stupid screen shot so everyone does not have to reload it every time they look at this thread?

Thanks again,

I can not see why -not being in despotism- would improve trade capability. I don't remember anything like that in the civilopedia. I will have to look again. :) No, it says nothing about trade.

I also can not see why the Germans and the Dutch being at war would influence trade in this case. You do not appear to have to cross their territory to sail to Tikakawku.
Question:Were the Dutch trading with the Inca? If so, a war between the Germans and the Dutch may have made available some Inca trade goods by cutting the Dutch trade line.

Completing the road to Vilcabamba should eliminate the problem, altogether.

BTW, I would have left the image there. Now people will wonder what the question was about. In a day or two, we would have moved on to another page. Then time to load would not be a problem.

Hi,

I cannot quite work it out, but I guessed it was something to do with having to trade throught the Germain and Dutch teritory to get to the others. Perhaps with me in Anarchy the random seed was in a different place, so the dutch took a city that they could not otherwise, and so broke the trade link. I could give you the save if you were that interested.

I was getting pissed off with the computer loading the image each time, and I have cable modem and interest in the image. I thought, now it was shown that I was just being stupid I shoudl get rid of it.

Thanks for the interest.

Sure post the save. I am not saying I can figure it out any better than you; but I would like to see it. Besides, I have never tried to download a save from here. It will be interesting to try.

OK. Here it is (hopefully). This is the first time I have uploaded a save game to here.

At pressent I am at war with the dutch, but I can make peace this turn. As it is, if you finish the turn, you cannot trade with anyone but the Germans. If you have a revolution, you can trade with the inca and the dutch as well.

First off you should be trading horses with Germany so you can build your horse-based army, and Allegheny is in the worst position ever. ;)

The trade "problem" is because at the end of the turn you posted the Inca get connected to your trade network through Germany. Since you have no harbours I suspect the Inca's have just built one themselves and are connected through a German harbour.

You can show this is correct (at least that they are going through Germany at some point), by waiting for 350BC and the the trade route to appear, then pillaging the road from you to Germany. You will see that thetrade route to both Germany and the Inca is cut.

You will notice if you try that this event happens at the end of the turn, regardless of whether or not you have a revolution.

I hope that is you Hugh, or I've juse been a little harsh to a total stranger. :D

Hi An,

>First off you should be trading horses with Germany so you can build your horse-based army

I really wanted to go to war with Germany, so I wanted to trade horses with Holland. I think it was the wrong decision, as now (190 BC) I still cannot get them and the inca have made war with me. I shall wip them easily, as I put Allegheny in such a good place ;-)

>, and Allegheny is in the worst position ever.

When I built Allegheny it turned back the inca setlers, so I could take that whole big juicy area. the city there totally controled that Pinch point. I think it was a great move. BTW, what a brilianat start position eh? All that flood plain, loads of bonus resorses and lux's.

I shall have a play with the trade route. I guess the inca must get a trade route through a Germain city that is taken by the dutch if I have a revolutution.

>I hope that is you Hugh, or I've juse been a little harsh to a total stranger.

Yeah it is me. See you soon, and thanks for the input.

how can i play the ww2 scenario in PTW?

i tried the load scenario option,i think thats for scenarios uve made in the editor and u want to play,i looked for it under the start game option, nada!

how do i play it?

it seems pretty sweet,is it multiplayer only?

Just get Conquests and play the Napoleon conflict. It's the same damn war over and over again anyway.

If you have a 20 turn deal that involves exporting a resource or luxery and the route is cut (a road is pillaged or occupied by the enemy, naval blockade), what happens? Do you take a rep hit and is the entire deal invalidated? Does it matter how the route was cut?

There is no WW2 scenario in PTW. ;)

All those lovely units and everything are *extras*, that can be used in your own games. Of course, you need to know how to mod them in.... :mischief:
