I've search to no avail.

If you load an army only with units that can bombard, like Samurai Archers for instance, can the army bombard?

No, it cannot.
The same happens when loading units with worker functions, that will also be lost.

I thought an army would "inherit" special properties if you load it full of units with all that special property?

So in theory, if you put it full of workers ... It would basicaly be a mega worker? -- might be something fun to test :) a worker with 2 movement points & 3 workers in one ... wow....

Thanks Theoden.

An army can have the amphibious assualt trait though, can't it?

It's been a while since I played C3C.

No... armies can only be loaded with military units. And besides, the army always moves at the speed of its slowest unit... so even if Workers COULD be put in them, they wouldn't work any faster. ;)

Putting anything other than fast and/or defensive units in an army strikes me as a real waste of a leader in C3C.

It was even more so in vanilla civ3! ;)

'twould be nice, but alas not to be....

I thought Army movement was = slowest unit in the army + 1. Maintaining unit spec abilities would be interesting though, I like the worker army idea. Imagine clearing jungle in 2 turns.

And because of the "Slowest unit +1 movement" you can move on to a unroaded tile & becuase of the 3 workers road it in 1 turn! :)

I do remember that an army retains "special" abilities, but not things like build a fortress (like some waring units can do)... Dont know about bombard

Yes, but only if all the units in the army have that special ability and the special ability is not a worker function.

The units do not inherit the special actions that are on the right side of the editor. Those come with the army. The army does inherit the stuff on the left box, if every unit there has it, or if the army itself has it.
