Does anyone know if you're still going to be able to earn the trophies from Vanilla when you're playing G&K? If so, I'd rather save the Elizabeth "Sink a crapton of ships" trophy (which is the last civ specific trophy I need) for when naval combat is fixed; But if not, I'd like to get as many trophies as possible out of the way on Vanilla, because I don't see myself ever going back once I download Gs&Ks.

Any ideas?

We don't know yet. Just have to wait and see when the game comes out. If I had to guess, I'd say you'll be able to get Vanilla achievements, but that's just speculation.

I played England vs Ottomans on a duell water map with raging barbs on.
Never sunk so many ships in one game!

By the way the game is set up, you should be able to achieve Vanilla achievements.

however, I think it's very likely that unless they modified the DLC Scenarios, some of them will become very broken.

That is the big question: what (AI-)changes will be patched (for vanilla and G+K) and what changes will G+K only.

The new loading screen and animations in MP are said to come along with a patch. But whether the change from 10 to 100 health points or melee ships or G+K-AI will be also in vanilla, I don't know.

I wasn't talking about Vanilla.

And en expansion pack isn't a standalone game that lacks everything else, you will have the DLCs in God and Kigns, and along with that, the DLC scenarios, so for somebody who has all the DLCS, but none of their achievement coudls truggle witht he new mechanics, because I don't think Firaxis is going to "update" the scenarios, because even know my New World scenario does soemthing that don't think should be doing.

I haven't actually played any of the scenarios yet. Are you expecting coding/crash problems, or are the new rules just going to interact with the scenarios in unexpected (and unfortunate) ways?

I agree with you, that the new mechanics could screw up scenarios. Scenarios have their own rules. As long as the (old) vanilla rules will be applied in old vanilla scenarios, there should be no problem.
If the vanilla rules change - no matter whether you play vanilla or G+K - the scenarios will be screwed.

As not everyone will have G+K, the vanilla rules will still exist. And CiV could be so intelligent to apply vanilla rules to vanilla scenarios and G+K rules to G+K scenarios.

Achievements should be still achievable, I mean, most of them is just keeping track of how many ... you ...! (forest chopped, units built, ...)
