I'm installing Rome total war and plan to attempt (my 2nd attempt) a creation of a worthwhile AAR. Now I have some questions which answers would make it more fun and less trouble for me to create the AAR and more entertaining for you lot.
This time I will make it more serious instead of using my oh so powerful humor. Kan's AAR's has shown me that actively involving members to the AAR keeps it much more alive then a passive one. With my enthusiasm for Roleplaying and History I would like to create an even more present "council of doom" in my AAR which would lean very much on historical accuracy. I know for sure we have some great historians in our midst who wouldn't mind proofreading it. So all volunteers are welcome to do so, and respond if they want to.
I also want to write my AAR from the faction leaders point of view instead of the (again using Kan as an example, sorry mate your AAR's just rock:D) ever dominant evil overlord Kan. This to also promote historical accuracy.

I also would like to know what the best in game screenshot program is. What do you use? I have Fraps and Xfire, but I don't use them a lot.
Also for gaming, I've always been a bit cautious playing EB. Sometimes I think it adds too much depth to the simplistic vanilla version of R:TW. Is there another mod that you can recommend or is there no other option then to go for EB?
I will play with a Roman state btw.

These are my questions so far, I know there will be more to come, but let's just wait for the feedback to sink in ;)

ImageShack's QuickShot is my preferred screenshot program, although I prefer uploading to PhotoBucket - less annoying ads than on ImageShack. I haven't used X-Fire, however.

I don't know what all options there are for mods, but I'd recommend one at any rate. The vanilla RTW scenario with three competing factions just seems too unrealistic to make a compelling history, IMO.

I've only used the 4th Age (LotR), Darth's Mod (pretty neat but not as good as) and Europa Barbarorum. EB is pretty good and my favourite one imo (4th age is fun too but LotR). There's a couple of other mods I've heard of but forget the names that I think (but am not sure) focus on the Romans.

I will probably use X-fire so I won't have to reload them to another website to post them on this website :P

Meh; EB.

I never messed with any mods, so I couldn't tell you anything. However I will definitely follow this.

I vote for Xfire as well, as I use it.

I don't know much else about what you're asking - RTW never really held my interest for long after I got other TW games - but I can safely say that I'll follow;) I'm something of a veteran AAR writer from other forums, and let me say that reader participation is always a good thing. It really get people involved. I've seen it happen, and I'll likely be using it in my own AAR when the Eomer missions and such crop up.

So just know that you have one guaranteed reader!:D

I'm very happy and motivated to get started with all these positive reactions. Probably going to start at the end of the week.
