R8XFT mod

I dont care about the movie Troy one way or another- its the Illiad which I like

Yes,the Illiad its a great story so it isn´t such an bad ideia make a leaderhead for the trojans, but R8XFT really had made a lot of new leaderheads.

Whoes next? Yacoub Al Mansour? Also, nice to see tht you took my suggestion for Modern Dinga.

Yes, I'm probably doing Yacoub next. Thanks for the suggestion for the Modern Dinga Cisse - I wasn't sure what he should wear in that age or the Industrial age, and fell lucky with the Industrial outfit :) .

Awww.. you're welcome.... I can't wait for your mod...

your work is amazing dude :)

I've been thinking of making this a 12-civ mod, all with new leaderheads of course. I've shown you 11 of them, though I must say that I might not do some of them in this mod, I might save them for something else.

The civs definately "in" are the Illyrians, Byzantines, Swahili, Ghana, Scotland and Finland. That's because their leaderheads are completely finished. I also intend to complete Morocco and Israel :) .

The newest piece of art I'm showing you is below. I think this could make a decent Attila the Hun....but, of course, I could be wrong ;) .

Attilla the Hun shoudl look more turkish, and the middle ages background should have more of a poor darkage, possibly ransacked village type feel to it ;)

I hope you plan to include the Trojans- the most pleasureable civ of all in your mod ;)

I agree with Xen,a burning city in the middle ages would be better, and the skin color need to be a little more dark.

I agree with both of you - I looked for a picture of a burning city and couldn't find one :( .

I plan to do the Trojans as well. As for the other two civs? I want (for myself) Richard the Lionheart for England and Napoleon for France, so they might be seen in this mod.

Ooooooh! Complete them all! Please? PLEASE?

I too agree with Xen. Can't wait for you to finish 'em. Great work so far!

Whether its in this mod or not, I'm not too fussed, but please do the Menzies one somewhere :o

Just a thought... why not give Australia an Aboriginal Leader, instead of (yet another) white leaderhead? If Australia was represented by the Aboriginals, I would endorse it into Civ... :)

Well, err, what exaclty have the Aborigenees done to get into Civ? They don't even have most of the techs in the ancient age to this day.. :-/

I've passionately discussed this elsewhere before... and don't really want to spam up this thread, but a couple of reasons.
1) Aboriginal Australia's population has remained diverse throughout history. Hundreds of languages, no cohesive government, different art forms etc, mean that there is no aboriginal civ as such. A cohesive identity was only imposed by white settlement.
2) The lack of cohesive identity means lack of national leader. There have been significant and celebrated aboriginal leaders, certainly, but none which qualify in the 'Civ' sense.
3) Australia only became a nation with common identity under white settlement, and only at the beginning of the 1900s. At this point, Australia became one of the geographically largest countries in the world, and one of its most democratic.
4) Menzies, as the longest serving PM in Australian history, is certainly well qualified for the honour of being Australia's Civ head.
5) While there are aboriginal place names, there were no aboriginal 'cities' as such - just broad areas of settlement.

I understand why people would want an Aboriginal leaderhead, but historically and culturally it makes no sense.

I'm more than happy to add other civs to the mix, but I'm concerned that the more I do, the more of a drain it will become on the civfanatics uploads folder. Still, I guess if I'd have released these leaderheads one by one and had separate threads for them, they would have taken up the same space. I was considering starting my own website for the mod, but I thought that I'd have traffic problems - ie if I did a mod that was a 250MB download, it wouldn't be many downloads before it used up it's bandwidth. If I bought some webspace, ie something like 500MB so that I could keep my own creations there and swap things around when I wanted, does it work the same way - ie are there file transfer limits?

Unfortunately yes. All websites have a bandwidth limit. Although there are a couple that I've seen that have a gig or so.

Even with a gig or so, it wouldn't be enough :( .

If my file ended up being approx 200-250MB to download and I had 20GB bandwidth, the way I understand it, this would only allow on average 2-3 downloads per day (250MB download X 2 users X 31days = 15.5GB bandwidth used).

Then again, I could be wrong.....I wondered though if it were possible to buy webspace rather than having a website , hotlinking to it from Civfanatics, and whether or not there would still be the traffic limits. Civfanatics must have a heck of a lot of traffic.

My intention was to not eat up too much of TF's resources.

I would have thought with a mod like this that it would have quite a few downloads initially, but then the number of downloads would decrease over time. So a couple of months after release, maybe 2-3 downloads per day would be about right.

well, ifthe space in an uploads folder get full, they move to another uploading folder, but your still able to get stuff, and dowload from previous download folders...
