R8XFT mod

Here's the new preview of Robert Menzies (I might put him in after all) - Industrial and Modern. There's also an updated Attila. Please tell me what you think :) .

Maybe a bit stronger eyebrows for Attila? Or did they shave 'em?

Burning village looks good, but I think I would prefer backgrounds that are by their nature static. Flames frozen to one frame look weird. My preference would be a distant view of a burning village.

If I could find one I'd use it!! This is about all I could find that was usable.

Don't know if you like it, but here's what I found :)

I would make the skin tone more brozish in nature, first he looked to white/classic asiatic, now he looks to african- I suppose the best colour would be the classic heavy beach tan color

and awesome new background :goodjob:

Thanks Drift - I've found that background now as well. Oh, and I've put eyebrows in.

Do you think the hair should stay the same throughout the ages?

I've also done a Hector leaderhead for Xen:

You did mean the Hector from Hector's house, right  ?

lets wait on hector a bit- I want to see if bebro will do his chariot, and if he dose, it would be neat if you could find (or someone could make) the props you need to make a leaderhead that looks like it :D

Ok, I can leave the Hector leaderhead until last, but we don't know how long it'll take BeBro to do the chariot. I kind of wanted to do Hector sooner rather than later. Is he looking ok anyhow? I could probably do the other ages for him and wait on the unit for the ancient age.

I've now completed Robert Menzies - did him in a few hours. I'm not sure whether it'll be ok - Margim can be the judge of that - but at least he's done (I hope) and in the mod :D . The preview images are on the first page of this thread.

That makes seven completed leaderheads.

Hector's helmet is a bit green. I'm not that fond of the background, a little too close view of the colosseum.

One general notion about your backgrounds is that they could be a little softer. If you look at the Firaxis backgrounds, they have been softened so that they really act as backgrounds and let the figure steal most of the attention. :)

Robert Menzies is looking good but there is soemthing wrong with the Ancient era. It looks his body looks flat, like it his head perched on a piece of paper. But I'm probably just on crack.

Wow Great Leaderheads, especially Justinian, Dinga Cisse and my personal favorite Kekkonen.
The new Atilla one looks good too.
Although I understand your wish too release them only together as one in the mod.
Please don't forget there are a lot of people who don't have fast connections so dl will take a lot of time for them. A leaderhead with 4 eras that means 8 flics (2 per era) and pictures is already probably 14Mb per leaderhead at least and if you put in 16 leaderheads thats huge  .
Maybe some people want to use only a few of them and still have to dl the whole thing to get them.
I don't mind (only that I have to wait until it is complete :) ) having a cable connection but some people probably do.
Please keep up the good work :goodjob: .

let me find some art for hector, as well as some background stuff- the Roman colloseum dosetn really fit, even if Romans are the descendent of the Trojans ;).

though if anywants to join the search the most fitting anceint background would, obviouslly, be the Great walls of troy- I suggest searching this site for backgrounds and such in the graphics style-

www.renderosity.com

as for hector- Hector was one of the few the true heros of the Illiad- not achillies, or Paris- Hector was the very epitome of wha both greeks and Romans strove to be- men who wer eboth careing fathers, men of honour and dignity, stout fighters, champions of thier belifes, willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of thier people, city, or cause, amoung other things-as such, I would suppose that the current hector is abit to "wimpy" for thr role- remember, Achillies won his duel with hector because he was invulnerable, had help from the gods, and was possibly a metephor by Homer for how so often during war, all that is good is sacrificed or killed in the name of victory.

Hector is looking good, but it is better to put great walls in the background, and please do him era specific.Maybe all the background would be great walls as if Troy was still remaining until the modern times.

Very nice work all round with Menzies. The only criticism is that industrial era image is a little historically inaccurate. The opera house wasn't built until the 1970s, and the Bridge in the 1930s... perhaps I could suggest this picture (with the person in it obscured)? Its the old Melbourne exhibition building, and was used for meetings of parliament for the first 26 years of Australian history. 1901-1927

Thanks for the picture Margim - I've updated the Menzies Industrial leaderhead with that background - preview is on the front page. Even if the Opera House was historically accurate, this background looks better IMHO :) .

Thank-you all for the words of encouragement. I'm glad Menzies looks ok.

Questions:
1. Has anyone seen a "Trojan walls" picture that I could use?
2. Should Attila the Hun keep the same hairstyle throughout the ages?
3. I was thinking of giving Attila a "doorman" or "bouncer" style in the modern age, i.e. black suit, black glasses etc, what do you think?

Thanks for your willingness to take feedback - this is a huge project and your doing well to put up witht he various requests that fly your way. Awesome stuff. :D

Great work R8XFT! I'm hoping you'll do King David next.
