Racial War Mod

man i just spent 40 minutes reading this whole thread!! what a waste of time ;-) every body is putting another's race down either directly or indirectly. I'm so glad nobody brought the Hindus in there We are PACIFIST (yeah right!).

by the way, in my opinion, mods like this one only propagate a thought.... and yes, in a free world (!), propagation of any idea is allowed, its upto you to stick to what you really believe in. And, it really is clear that everybody is proud of their HERITAGE (dare I change the word "race" to "Heritage" .. yes i did dare)... not necessarily race.

Religion, race, nations are all man made concepts. Looking at it broadly, what does it all come down to? When looking down from space, no one can see any boundries, its one world.. one big planet, with a lot of losers in there ;-). I'm sure one day we will all grow to accept each other and be HUMANS despite our cultural differences and our different beliefs.

p.s. This one dude pointed out the most valid point in the whole thing .. Aryans are Asians also. After all, who hasn't heard different theories about origins of Aryans.. those who are more interested can read up about origins of Aryans... there is one great book out there called: The Return of the Aryans. Amazing book set in fictious manner. Hitler really screwed things up for a great people, a great civilization. The craddle of civilization perhaps started with them or the Harrapans in the now known Pakistan. Is Alireza still around? This thread is a few months old and it seems like its being revived.

The topic of a racial war is interesting. I don't see how it is rascist to make a mod of it, unless you make some races weaker than others...but hey, at the risk of offending someone, wouldn't that be a lot like history?

In a way, it's rather rascist to include the Zulus or Iroquois instead of the Dutch or Portuguese, who have had a vastly larger impact on history but were arguably excluded to make room for some dark skinned races. I don't think that is wrong, as it adds variety to the game, and there is no reason a black player shouldn't have a black civ to play.

Me, I'm just not offended by anything that would have to do with a harmless game, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I think that we should be glad that anyone who is racist is playing a game to vent their anger at another race instead of overthrowing governements to set up racist laws and commiting hate crimes.

Ok everyone, I am hoping that this post will end all posts about racism, fascism, judaism, or whatever controversial topic you wish to choose (simply because as a young, untainted by politics, parents, or becoming 18, i like to think of myself as neutral ).

I believe, even with out knowing it, all racists are fighting a war not to be ended because people think how they do. I believe all anti-racists are being racist simply because they are hating a frame of mind, which could be thought of as a race, (in a sense). I personally believe pride in your country, race, religion, you name it, is a very primal instinct that most can not rise above what they unconciously do. (Most being 99.5% percent is what im thinkin.)

I believe, personally that believing whole heartedly in a topic is not wrong, simply spreading your ideas in the name of your belief, weather your belief is being against beliefs, or against non-believers (failed to think of a better word) is called propaganda, and is wrong in some senses. I believe there is such thing as right and wrong, and would stick up for my religion, you guys can diss my country, or race, or any thing that you feel needs a good reprimanding, but religion is to stick up for, not to have propaganda of. (off subject) Not having a belief is a belief i.e. Athiesm is a belief, (believing in nothing) and so is democracy (freedom of speech, and such)

For the record (if any one cares) I am white (I was born that way), i am christian (diss me if you wanna, but im christian still, you can't change it.) and i am an american (I was born that way as well.) so peace out, or war out if you prefer, it's your belief
I also wonder how many negative comments/bans i will get for this one, i also think if there is a loser of the week, there should be a winner, laziest, and unintelligentest (huh??)

Most racists want to kill people who are not of their race. That is what "anti-racists" are against, not "hating a frame of mind, which could be thought of as a race". Sorry but I can't support the destruction of people because they are not of the same race.

Combine that with this post, and I absolutely must comment, despite the fact that the post is old.

I can't approve of the way that some people equate fascism and socialism. While this might appeal to some McCarthyists, they are ideologically completely different. The reason why fascism is the one of the two that deserves to be fought in all of its forms is that it is an ideology that centers around the principle of might makes right. I feel that this basic tenet of fascism is too often ignored... if you just read some Hitler, especially the parts where he rants on about wanting the German youth to be "cruel, remorseless and noble like wild beasts", you'll get the spirit of things.

Fascists believe they are entitled by birth to whatever they might desire, and all others must serve or perish. This is why fascism must be fought.

Socialism on the other hand is more or less an economic doctrine that stipulates that if there was no private property, then there would be no separate classes of people in society (I find that especially in America people can't often even define socialism, even if they seem to hate it so much). Basically the idea is good; unfortunately it has proven dysfunctional in practice since people are not as enlightened and selfless as a successful communist society would demand. Socialist systems tend to degenerate into inefficient oligarchic dictatorships, as we have all witnessed.

Free Enterprise's idea that that a fascist government is "dictatorship with a socialist economy" is flawed. Fascism allows private property and has free enterprise. Communist states are in practice not exactly democracies either, as this seems to imply...

Is this thread even about the mod anymore? I want to try it, but all I can find is people arguing about religion and race. I have no problem with that except this is supposed to be for Civ3. You should go to a real forum. Back to the mod, does it even work? And why is it a mod rather than a scenario? I tried it but I got an error about a missing file.

Well, the person who originated it thought it would be a good idea if people from basic groups fought each other and/or out lasted each other-pretty much like general civ3. Unfortunately, instead of using a politically correct term like 'culture groups', he invoked the dreaded "R" word.

If anything, the whole idea behind Civilization is 'racist', if you think about it. You play one people, a 'race' (read, civilization), and try to beat the other races. Sid was smart, though, and called them 'Civilizations' instead of 'Races'.

BTW, as far as I know, its not 'Racism', its Ethnocentrism. A mechanism far too deep rooted inside of the human genome, without it, we could never develop. Some things just never change.
