Radio.

BBC 5 Live - news and sport. Don't listen to music from radio much unless I'm in a certain mood.

I would go for BBC 4, but it's not on the dial :(

BBC = no adverts. You know it makes sense.

Hannity is fun to listen to when I'm in a combative mood or need to feel superior, because he is a seriously *bad* debater.

And yes, I also get annoyed at their being no music on during the morning when I'm in the mood for rock or pop. The morning shows are pathetic.

Yeah, i dont have the AM anette hooked up in the house, so only talk in the car:). The other day, Hannity was talking about gun control and he made these wild statements like "All liberals say people shouldn't be allowed to own guns", when we just want gun control;). Then he goes quotes the Second Amendment to the caller like she's stupid. Yet, he misquotes it and leaves out the part about the militia.

I also get tired of morning shows. There is one local station that is about half-and-half bewteen music and announcer, so i listen to that.

<threadjack>I heard the same one. I swear they must pre-screen callers to that show, too, to make sure they are people who likewise couldn't hold up their end of a debate with a forklift. Besides the part you cite, I particularly liked when he all but branded the caller a liar when she claimed that she knew plenty of New Yorkers who owned guns, while completely failing to realize that he and she were talking about two different things --- he was talking about the difficulty of getting a permit to *carry concealed* while she was talking about having a gun, period. Like I said, entertaining.</threadjack>

They pre-screen very carefully. I've heard what screeners do to find the right callers, and how to tell people who are going to put up a fight and those that are just befuddled to be on the air.

The other tactic they like to use is potting down the caller to make it sound like they've been 'stunned' into silence. I think it was Rush who once claimed (to his credit, qutie honestly) that callers were meant to make the host look good. They're no in pursuit of the truth, they're in pursuit of syndication.

radio sucks, censoring and editing is an abomination to music. And who wants to listen to all those commercials? they only play the "popular" songs anyway. You never hear the ones that are good but aren't catchy like others.

I listen to <A HREF="http://www.virginradio.co.uk">Virgin Radio</A> because they play all the music I like and nothing else. Also Jezza is very good.

I primarily listen to DRS 3 the third of the national swiss public radio. I has a good music selection and no commercials :goodjob:

The University of Minnesota has a great non-commercial radio station. The Village Voice once called it "the greatest college radio station imaginable". Unfortunately it is AM and goes off the air at sunset (though it broadcasts 24 hours on the internet at www.radiok.org). Other than that I listen to NPR and have the guilty pleasure of listening to a local Hip Hop station.

Radio, hehe, if there is some kind of disaster and I need information or have no other link to the outside world, maybe.

Hmm... I find NPR and the BBC World service to provide much more in depth news than anything on TV (which is nothing but crap, infotainment or propaganda).

I listen mostly to 3FM - the public Dutch pop station, for want of a decent alternative. There is no real 'talk radio' here in the Netherlands but I suspect I might find that too distracting anyway.

Before I moved I was able to receive the Belgian station Studio Brussel, which was great. Relatively few commercials, and mostly alternative music, all day long.I really miss it :(

When im playing some games (ie civ) ill turn the radio on and listen to Clyde 1 Fm. It has lots of good music, and appropriate/funny talk/chat.

Tis great! :)
