Railroad/Airbase Query

This may seem a little naive to the more seasoned generals among you, but what is the benefit in building airbases along railroads? I hadn't heard of this until I saw a screenshot of another player's game. Is it something to do with showing what direction spies are appearing from? Perhaps so that you can close off that avenue? I cannot find anything in the manual referring to this practice.

Have a look at the Airbase magic artilce to see which terrains get the best benefit out a an airbase of airbase + mine combination (you can not combine regular irrigation with mine)

Since there is no way to historically justify the "airbase magic" programming bug, I avoid using it.

NOPE!!!

Since it's a part of the program, even though clearly a mistake, it would be wrong to say that people can't build Airbases!! That would remove and entire aspect from the war side of the game!! People should be allowed to build airbases - so just because there is a bug doesn't mean that we should think of it as cheat - I mean then we would have to look at every airbase in every game to judge whether it was build for the use as an airbase or to improve to land!!!

It's a bug, but airbases are part of the game, therefore it would be wrong to say it is cheating!!!

BTW - I use them - but only on hills - I think they look stupid, and I would never build them all over just for the effect - that would be wrong......
