Railways over ocean

That was in Civ 1 not 2. Unless someone has figured something new out??

And in Civ 1 you would put a settler on a boat and then activate it. Then press "R" for road/railroad.

Fallen Angel Lord

I don't think you can build railways over oceans.

It doesn't make any logical sense.

Well we're talking about civ I and it seems that this CAN be done there; Check this

Yes, i remember the good'ol times when i played civ1 and railroads over oceans was a normal thing. i think it's illogical though, and i'm kinda glad this feature has been disabled in civ2. though it was rather cool to travel the vast ocean in a turn or two.

You mean that you don't play Civ1 anymore?? Damn. Sacrilege. How can you forget such a legend? Even I, I still play Civ1 like an addicted. Yesterday, I went to bed a 4am, playing Civ1... Got up at 7. Quite tired today. I'm getting back to my old habits, ie 6 hours playing per day. At least of course

BTW, Az, congrats, Archer. Yeah, you've just been promoted as I can see. Keep on posting, boy.

If you care, you can get railroads on water by cheating

I've assigned the art from Bratislava Castle to Escorial. Could not find anything better.

If you want to code it sedna, it will be iEscorial on Consts.py.

As flygon said, what the heck does that have to do with this thread? Which has been dead since DECEMBER 2001

Obviously it belongs elsewhere. Like here (a quick check of the guy's post history will tell you that). Somehow he's managed to blunder into an 8 year old Civ2 thread.

Erroneous Slovakia references aside, you can create a CivII oceanic railway by building a railway on land then cheating ('change terrain at cursor') and turning the square into ocean. I always do it when my empire reaches a certain size, and there are various places just gagging for a rail tunnel (eg. English Channel, Straits of Gibraltar, Straits of Hormuz, Siberia-Alaska.) I sometimes connect all the little Indonesian and Malay islands in a line to reach Australia. It's purely aesthetic though; you can't actually use the railways, they just add to the glory of your 'network.' A working rail tunnel feature would be very useful, especially since the Chunnel was built in the 1990s and the standard game runs to 2020!
