Random Cities

I think the strategic benefits of this far outweigh any sort of aesthetic criteria. Maybe that's just me.

It just occurred to me, can you move your capitol in 5 by rebuilding the palace? I don't recall ever actually doing it for whatever reason.

In Civ5 you can't do this, due to conquest victory goal and indestructible capitals. In Civ6 you could raze enemy capital, so it's possible you could move capital to. But in the builds we had there were no Palace building in the list.

I'm guessing that the palace building would be available once the original capital has been captured our raised. I might like the ability to move the capital to the city of my choosing. Perhaps if a second or third city founded is a bigger boon for population or odds in a really good defensible location. To prevent people from taking advantage of that, maybe they could limit the number of times that it can be done... Maybe a civic or two could allow for a one time movement each.

Could limit it even further by only allowing it to be moved to the location of the Forbidden Palace

Something else I would like to see it the ability to edit the city list (easily... took me a while to figure out how to mod the change into Civ V... though it turned out to be rather easy, just not as straight forward). While it seems less important in Civilization VI with the randomization factor, there are still reasons to do so. For me, I tend to edit the city list for America making Philadelphia the first city (and thence, the capital). Also, if I understood it right as I described earlier about how it chooses the city being from the next ten on the list, there could be a reason to adjust the list if one doesn't like the city names available earlier in the list vs later...

I like the randomized city placement, but I would have like even better if you were offered a list to pick once you build a new city. I tend to like selecting a city name that fits with the surroundings and in Civ V it was a pain. (As you were receiving always the same city name until used). I think in IV (or III) it was better because you got the "¿How should our city be named?" screen before city was actually founded, allowing you to skip founding, and providing you the next name in the list if you tried again (unused names would be reused at the end of the list)

You could just enter custom name.

You could just enter custom name.

Yep, but it becomes annoying to rename a French coastal city, in example to "Marselle", and then getting "Marseille" because you misspelled the custom name, then having to correct Marseille and finding a new custom name for the new city while the next name in the list could have been sufficient.

It's too small case to add a new interface window, IMHO. Just rename the new Marseille to something else and the old one to Marseille and that's all.

That's nonsense. It's just a small interface. Something similar it's even already implemented for renaming UNITS, as seen in first gameplay videos.
I'm not even asking them to do it, just commenting this is a small nitpick with regards to the naming of cities. If you don't need it, it's ok, but if you need to oppose to any increase of work, you will have a lot of work in this fórum.
