Random colonies?

Is it somehow possible to have random colonies in the game? It kinda annoys me that it is determined what colonies I get in my games. I love playing with random civilizations, but still there is no option for random colonies. Some civilizations appear in almost every game (e.g. America, which is derivative civ of many civilizations), others rarely.
I found the related line in the xml files (Derivative_Civ), but that doesn't help me a lot. Is there any way somebody could mod this into the game? Or is Firaxis going to include it in a future patch?

Not sure... but I also hate when I play as the Byzantines and I always spawn Pericles... Though I like playing as Suleiman and spawning Mehmed on some distant island that consists of nothing but ice and tundra...

i think the first couple of colonies are preset, but after that i think it is random

how do i go about making it all random, with no repeated civs?

I'd guess that removing all the derivative civs would make it random.

Really, you could go in there and set everyone's derivative civ yourself instead to make it more realistic or suitable for your own wants.

Install Solver's unofficial patch. This was one of his fixes.

In principle, I agree that the colonies should be random. This isn't Rhye's and Fall here; we're creating an entirely new world.

That being said, it does make a certain degree of mechanical sense for America to be spawned as a colony simply because it's got all its unique stuff in the late game. Of course, that'd be better done through an algorithm that weights civs based on when their UUs and UBs come into play, rather than by hardcoding every nation in Europe to spawn America.

are you sure that doesn't mean it doesn't spawn the exact same civilization that created it?

That's what I thought we were talking about. . . The base game dictates which civ will created as a the first colony. Solver's patch removes that.

I thought solver's patch just reduced the chances of a duplicate civ appearing. Not, say, pericles aways spawning from suleiman.

He "reduced" the chances of a duplicate civ appearing by making it entirely random I would guess.
