some nations are just so random and insignificant
the khemer random elephant thing??
NATIVE AMERICANS?????????? this may just be that i have a grudge against all americans but rearly dog soildgers
 
What specifically don't you like about them? The Khmer are not "insignificant." See Angkor Wat, for example.

I personally do not mind seeing less prominent cultures. Vietnam is another south asian culture worthy of inclusion. They defeated ancient China in a war of independence, fought off three Mongol invasions, won three wars with the People's Republic of China, and finally beat the United States.
 
The Khemer, insignificant? The khemer empire was MASSIVE, they build Ankgor Wat, and started in Cambodia. Yes Cambodia doesnt mean much but i like to flout my knowlege, no matter how insignificant- Nothing is too small to know!
 
Many people think that just because they've never heard of a civilization they are somehow insugnificant.
 
What about the Dutch? All they do is make chocolate, right?

See, these kind of threads are absolutly worthless, because it's ridiculous trying to measure the worth of any given civilization. Just because you don't like a certain Civ, doesn't mean they shouldn't be in the game.
 
He got some point with 'Native Americans' however.

I dont mind seeing Sitting Bull of the Sioux - like it was in Previous civ games. Perhaps add more civs as well - Iroquese, Mohicans - whatever.

But throwing them all into one is just a Huge pile political correctness BS.

How about deleting french, german [...] and make them "Assorted Europeans Civilization" ?!

Civilization is a kind of human society or culture; specifically, a civilization is usually understood to be a complex society characterized by the practice of agriculture and settlement in cities.

Gee... I don't know of any "cities" that any of the Native Americans created... I can think of a few German and French ones though...

What's politically correct is naming any Native American civ a "Civilization", because none of them were anything more then tribes. Mayans, Incans, Aztecs can be considered "Civilizations" because they founded permanent cities... none of the North American tribes created permanent settlements. The Khmer is legit too...

I don't sweat that the Native Americans are a Civ in Civilization... doesn't bother me... but it is politically correct silliness to call them "Civs" in a true sense. They weren't city builders... none of them were... not a one. To me, that's a cornerstone for being considered a Civilization.

Well it's true grouping all the natives in 1 nation is totally arrogant I have to point out the following.
I play Age of Empires 3 (fun game) they came out with a X pack for it a year after which was called "The war chiefs" it expanded the game to include 3 native American Civs and when they announced which civs were in it the people went mad.

The game had Sioux Aztec and Iroquois, but everyone wanted their own little civ to be in it like Inca, Cherokee, among others. (There are minor natives in the game but thats not good enough)
My point being no matter what civs you put in a game there will always be a group of people that will be steamed that their favorite civ wasn't in it.
If it was a perfect world we would have any civ we wanted but they only can fit so much on so many DVD/CD's.
I remember people freaked when Dutch weren't in CIVIV (Which made me mad too)

Just my two cents. :)

If it weren't for threads like these, I wouldn't know who to add to my "ignore" list. :mischief:
