OK, this one is kind of specific. I've decided to rent all of Monty Python (a large task with only 3 episodes per DVD, but I'll do it). I just watched the first DVD with episodes 1-3.

I have one specific question about Episode 3, or "How to Recognize Different Types of Trees From Quite a Long Way Away". In the Bicycle Repairman sketch, you know the narrator at the end who starts ranting about international communism, soon flipping out and yelling "Kill! Kill the commies!"? While watching it, my mom (who was reading) overheard, looked up, and asked, "Is that Richard Nixon?".

Is it? I always thought it was just a joke on the mood towards communists at the time, but I wonder...is it making fun of Nixon? I mean, he wasn't President at the time (it was late 60s, IIRC), but he must have been a notable figure...

i havent seen that for a long time but i remember Bicycle repairman very well but i do think it may have been Nixon though i cant remember that well

They made fun of Nixon quite a lot. I haven't seen the specific episode you're referring to but it wouldn't suprise me if it WAS Tricky Dick.

Are you really trying to make sense in MPFC?

I don't think it was about Nixon. Monty python were usualy joking around more than actually doing satire about people.
