Rat26 - Random AWE

I've been trying to avoid using "cover" armies for killing random units; getting a bad RNG string and losing 8-10 hp against a Rifle would leave a stack exposed.

As for the city on the west of the new continent, I'd be happier if we had two more Infantry to guard it. Just call me Tusker McClellan ;)

Edit: Crosspost with Overseer. I feel like I was mostly setting the stage for rapid conquest during the next turnset - I only razed a few cities.

Short rushing - I didn't think of that one. Not a bad idea actually.

For killing the Rifle, it is on one of two squares that have a unique Lux. If we lost 10 hp, we could cover with one of the injured Armies in the main town -which wouldn't then heal, but the odds of losing so many hp is very small and we save the lux square. We are not talking of any old square here....
 
Precisely - one of two squares. I'm not worried about losing one of the two lux squares. Still, you're right; better to lose none than to let it drop to one source hooked up.

BTW, I'm playing this, but inching along. It's taking quite awhile with MM, bombarding stacks, attacking them, etc.

edit: Will finish on Sunday, doubt I'll have time tommorow. Think we are going to get an excellent move on Babylon here. Been trying to balance Bombers with some more Infantry builds to help with defense versus cavalry. I initially thought about building more cavalry of our own, but tanks are imminent, much better, and also bombers are just great. :goodjob: I am saving armies now for tanks. Some 4 tank armies on that main enemy continent would go a long way during the next turn sets, although I doubt I will get more than 1 or 2 of those during my set.

A good turn, I was thinking this game was near the end.

ThERat, I was thinking of a variant that might be fun to try (not well suited to the bigger maps, so not a GR game).

1BC AW(M or E) - One built city AW(M or E) - essentially the opposite of genocide - we can never build a settler - all towns would be captured. I think it would be a difficult variant and one might want to choose a civ with a early speed 2 UU. Probably AWM would be better to start. Hardest part might be surviving the beginning part.

Anyway, I thought I would mention it if you wanted to try it for the next game.
 
There is a one BC going right now, "Hammy builds a house". It has been a quite interesting SG to read. While not AW, it has been very war-like.

I like the idea of OBC, however, the starting part will be very tough. Unit support will be crazy and you need to be lucky to get someone nearby. Which Civ would be suitable for that?
 
Greeks would be the age-old choice. Hittites were creative in this game, but at a certain point, creative doesn't matter much anymore if you can't pull off the win.
 
I think I would go for strong offense so we can take cities early. Another age-old choice would be good - Persia with the early attack 4.

The celts might be another choice or some other civ with speed 2 units since cities will not be distance 3 apart.
 
i got it.

suspect continent will fall during my turnset. will probably look for islands and prepare shipping on northern island (if not done already, wasn't as thorough with the log as usual ;)).


like the idea of an ocb aw. from the civs mentioned i like celts most. zulus might be a good idea with fast defenders, but celts are still my first choice.
