with railnet complete and most tiles railed in core, we might soon get rid of some workers.
new cities are mostly on worker duty, some artillery. maybe wealth is better there.
my factory prebuilds are way off, due to the much longer research time.
hired some scientists in corrupt cities, but could be more.

It would be good to have flight for airfields. I would continue to research, with the many scientists we have, its easy

I dropped an army onto the tiny Island, I would ake the city, but raze it and occupy the Island so nobody can resettle
Don't forget that we have an empty army. So far, nobody attacked our clads, thus we should be able to ship ore units overseas

Btw, land improvements almost complete, I already merged some workers into our cities.
 
I think I would go with an Infantry Army and build a city on the hill. A good way to kill enemy units (rush walls first turn).

On the main enemy continent, I assume? Kind of like Omaha Beach? This one I'll call Juno Beach:) I have downloaded the save and am preparing to play, so now is the time for suggestions.
 
An infantry army on the main continent sounds good. On hills behind walls with a barracks. So first rush the walls and then barracks. It will help to have some minor units to disband so that rushing the walls will be much cheaper.
 
I'm looking at the save, and I only see 2 decent sites with hills that are near England and one is on the wrong side. The other is completely undeveloped. Both are adjacent to at least one mountain, giving the enemy cover. I like the one on the east coast in Babylonian territory. Neither one is perfect, but the one I chose will do fine.
 
I am done, and I got a nice birthday gift from the RNG, I only lost 2 battles out of 55:D I got a hill town built on my last turn with a 4 unit infantry army and walls rushed next turn. Here is the turn-log:

Do a ton of renaming while MM’ing to squeeze maximum cash out of our farms. Basically, ^ in front of the normal name indicates a specialist farm with a max population of 6. ^^ means a population max of 12. When logging, ignore that part of the name, it’s there to make the MM’ing easier.
Also begin organizing workers and slaves into fast teams, this one at a time stuff takes too long.

I had outstanding RNG results in ever way but leaders, I only got 1 out of
20+ elite combats. There were a couple scares with army battles where an army red-lined on seemingly easy combats, but I didn’t lose any. Only 2 silly losses, a healthy vCav vs a redlined vCav and a healhy vInfantry to a vCav. Not bad for Civ3.

Hand-off notes: I have settled Sword Beach on a hill near Uruk. It has a 4 infantry army in it and I rushed walls. It is now ready to take lots of troops.
If it survives, that is. There is one 3 unit Cavalry army nearby on the small island. Sword Beach will be culturally vulnerable until we clear some nearby cities out. It is a long way for reinforcements, even if the galleons shuttle between fortified ironclads. That will get better when we get Combustion and can get them upgraded. That’s why I don’t recommend burning our cash for rushing, we’ll want to upgrade all of our galleons and some of our ironclads. The small English/Babylonian island is ours and ready to be railed and used to transfer troops for a second front, if one is needed. Right now, Egypt seems to be producing the most troops, going by their landings.

Preturn:
We have valuable space in our Galleon filled with an Archer, 2 MDI, and a Pike? At this point in the game I only use those units as MP. I am not at all sure why we have them heading across. They are not even elite. I would have kept those units back and send the Cavalry or Army across instead.

If this game was going to last longer, I would consider a civil engineer to speed Aquaducts, But now it is late enough to not be worthwhile.

There was a boat next to our shores. Used cannon to bring them to 1 hp.

Build choices look good to me.

IBT: Only 2 Cav Attack us.

1455 AD: Setting things up. We don't have enough Galleons so rush some - switch over Ironclads.

IBT: Two English Rifles on first island. Another cav Spotted and some Rifles near Sword Beach.

1460 AD: Bombard and kill Rifles.
Cav army on small island dropped off on mainland.
Galleon with Pike?? and Infantry drops off Pike and loads some Cav, Another ship of Cav and use the free Army to build a cav army.

IBT: No landings. Assume we are attacked every round at Sword Beach. We never lose even 1/2 our HP though.

1465 AD: Attack Hastings. Built city closer to Babylon in Overseer's pic

1470 AD: Healing Army. Troops are heading across.

IBT: Get Refining and Start Combustion. At 90% science we get it in 5.


1475 AD: Attack Hastings again. Take alot a damage and run to the mountains.

IBT: Newcastle deposes us.

1480 AD: We take back the city for 748 gold.
Build Marshville - the closer city in Overseer's pic - took a bit to clear as I roaded first.
Drop off our first big load of regular troops - Cav and Infantry.
Two Cav Armies were dropped off on other coast near Overseer's road picture.
Rush last round of Galleon to take troops over.

IBT: Oka loses its Harbor to Bombardment and Riots.

1485 AD: Lose and Ironclad to a 2 hp Frigate. Second Ironclad in area goes to 1 HP killing a 2 hp Frigate.
Second Army landed near Hastings to help out. Move a Cav on top of injured Army to join.
Attack Nippur on the other side of the continent. 2 more cav dropped on Armies to get to 5 units.
Having a hard time finding enough MP. Going to ship back that shipment of 2 MDI, Archer, Pike at the start. I should have just send that Galleon back right at the start without unloading them.

IBT: Another English landing.

1490 AD: Get a leader and form another Cav army in Sword Beach.
Babylon city of Nippur is Razed.
English city of Hastings finally falls (razed). We have 3 armies in the area now including the new one.

IBT: Get Combustion and start Flight. Landing on Island near Babylon.

1495 AD: Rush some destroyers near where all the Ships are. Kill landing but lose a Cav doing so.

IBT: Many bombarded Egyptian ships don't land, but head home.

1500 AD: In a blaze of Glory our first Destroyer attacks a Galley and sinks. Probably the crew were all running around looking for the ship's oars while the Galley was attacking. :rolleyes: Our second destroyer the crew figured out and took no damage. And there was much Rejoicing. Our third (I rushed 3 up north) kills a Galleon after bombardment brings it to the top. Bombard and attack Uruk. Uruk has nearly fallen.

Notes:
I did most MM but not every town.

I suspect we are getting close to making good progress against the enemy. The Cav Armies are slightly fragile vs the Rifles, but will make steady progress. Keep them in groups of twos.

See pic we can connect Lux near sword beach. That would really help. We have temple already with border expansion in 4 turns. Defending with Infantry may be enough...

Archer, 2 MDI, and Pike were heading home... except they moved in the wrong direction once and since we will get a new Lux soon, are probably not needed as much home anymore.

For the other side we could build a town, but it might have problems surviving. I would keep the Infantry/settler/Artillery together. I don't think the AI will attack 2 Fortified infantry on a hill when it has a town to attack - or keep a Cav Army with it to be safe.

There is a cav army on the island. It could be shipped across, but we did get one landing there.

Hubishina needs Irrigated wheat to be mined.

I spent a fair amount on upgrading Galleons to Transports and Ironclads to Destroyers; the sea lanes look a bit cleaner because of it.

I felt a bit thinly-stretched towards the end of the turnset; once the English are gone, we should be able to concentrate forces a bit more easily. In the meantime, it might be worth it to switch some builds back to Infantry in our core.

N.B. I built a bunch of airfields on our home continent; four near the capital on unused tiles, two on mountains in the far northeast, plus another two or three scattered across the northwest. Each island, save the one SE of our capital, has at least one airfield.

There are armies guarding Artillery and workers that have full movement. Use one to kill off the Rifle that will pillage one of the two Lux. It can move back to guard after that. I often use some of an armies movements to kill things and the last movement to go back to guard duty.

I would also keep the last two English towns. Remember full sized towns are big boosts to Science and worth keeping if a civ is near its end. I would have probably kept Nottingham too myself. Flips aren't bad if you are prepared for them.

I guess I would keep that last Army and fill it with tanks when we get the first 4. I might even prebuild 4 tanks just so I can fill it right away (switch to complete tanks by picking big pict give it the same time you get motorized transport. That turn you airlift them across and next turn you have the army. Probably worth waiting though you could also use the elite cav to fill now.

I think you might be able to risk building a town on the far side of the continent with the 2 Infantry, 2 Cav, and 2 Artillery. Bring across more of the of Artillery and it should be safe enough.
 
Wow, great progress guys. Sorry about transporting useless units, they were aimed at disbanding to rush infra at Sword Beach. I prefer short-rushing with obsolete units where possible to save cash. I just forgot to put that in the hand-off note:( I'd rather be shipping even useless units than have empty ships doing nothing. Anyway, looks like the stuff I did right is paying off. Greeb and Tusker really kicked butt in their turns.
