Try to guess the cost of all that software. :D Bought over a period of ten months (February - December 2004).

EDIT: The second option was supposed to be "Full price - (minus) the upgrade rebate"

Don't look until you've voted!
Spoiler :
It was free, minus the sales tax.

Someone who uses a free downloadable browser must be too cheap to buy them, and no one gives stuff away for free, so you stole them!

or... there is such thing as a free lunch :undecide:

how did you get that many? all for free  i won't ever look at the quote "NO free lunches" the same way.

Other purchases:
  • Webroot's Spy Sweeper
  • Norton Antivirus 2005 Home Protection Pack (3-license)
  • Norton Antivirus 2005 Home Protection Pack (3-license)

Spoiler :
These, too, were free, after rebate. I just submitted the two Norton ones so I haven't yet gotten the $140 back...

I just hate waiting for rebate checks. :p

Rite Aid and CVS often have "free after rebate" deals and I never bother with them.

Yeah, me too. :) I feel that if they're going to give me my money back, they might as well just hand me a copy.

My wife is really good at finding free stuff online. We've gotten a lot of stuff free. I can't even begin to list it all.

How many people are going to buy it because of the rebate and then figure out how many people are going to forget to send in that reabte. :p People are lazy. :mischief:

Oh, great. I'm glad that half the people who voted think I stole the products

These are good investments. I think I'll start selling some of them on eBay - the ones that I hate: Norton Internet Security (2004, 2005), Personal Firewall (two 2005), and Antipsam (2004, 2005).

It is good that you got it for free, as this software is really overrated software for uninformed customers.

There are tons of equal or better free antivirus software out there.
e.g.

http://www.free-av.com/

Better System Utilities:

http://www.tuneup.de/

For a Firewall, get a (Hardware) Router or simply use the one coming with Windows XP SP2. They are still not comparable to a SPI-Firewall of a Router e.g.

You also get configurable Spam-Filters with many E-Mail Providers or built-in in the Mail Client.

OK, just my "why do people still use tools that were good 10 years ago but now are not really good anymore" rant. :)
