RB11 - Gandhi, the silent aggressor

We have a warrior licking his wounds for 3 more turn by the roman capital. If he makes a worker and sent it north for the cow. He can be easily cornored if going W, NW, N.
That ain't gonna happen. Once you have your units nearby, the worker will simply stay out inside the city. The AI isn't that dumb anymore. But the warrior has one good effect. The Ai won't improve any tiles as long as we are near.

By the way, we need to go for archery to get a decent defense, what is the reason for polytheism?

Tech:
Fishing-Hunting-Archer-Animal Husbandry-Bronze Working
I thought we agreed on that, in all our prediscussion there wasn't a word about poly

edit: you mentioned all those wonders. I think you underestimate the effect of AW. I wonder where would we get the capacity to tie our cities with wonder builds?

Yeah looked back at the thread, my bad I played with the if safe pick a religion... trying to squeeze the oracle would be nice, Metal casting for free woudlk greatly help our start... but we can't go oracle before second city. depending if we go east or west or south for second city the north will be quite safe.. and if we move a warrior to the incan we might be abel to delay their start... we would need to get horse and enslave worker or something...

Maybe move or warrior so the only possible expansion for rome is toward us? would make us a bit easier for us to annex their empire?

we will be isolationist so a religion spread to all of our city would be a great help and would generate some good income.

sure, a religion can be nice, however, the short term benefits for now are negligible.
We will eventually get a religion anyway if we conquer an AI capital. In all my games I have given up on the early religion chase, the techs needed are not relevant for development.

And again, archery is highest priority. Warriors won't cut it against anyone. Once the AI sends a few units we are toast.

Anyway our current greatest threat is Quecha rom the incans... they are stronger against archer than against warrior. Mike can switch to archery if he want we got hunting already.

Just looked in the game without gold focus we can get archery in 10turns... might wish to switch to that and than back to grab polytheism? (if not already grabbed.

You should all play like 15turn than when it's back to me we start the 10 turn succession

It's all good. Now is not the time to panic, we just started!

Did we build a barracks yet? If not, next player should get right on that.
Warriors, archers.. aggressive defense. I like how you are defending outside the other civ! That's great. No improvements for him, and if we can get a worker hooking us up to some resources, we should be growing while he withers like a weed. Nice!

One good thing about a religion is the boost in production rate. Of course, the other civs would call us heathens, but what do they know? ;)

Good Luck Mike! If the civs don't attack you, get ready for the barbs.

Would be fun to be the hindu indian. run theocracy no spread from other religion, don't found another religion and wihp the world clean of heathens...

India Inquisition in the name of Shiva... lol

I tried to open the file to have a look, then I get this message...

this looks pretty familiar to the message I got from opening the GOTM file. Anyone else has that issue? Never got this for a SG game :(

I use Blue marble, bad ronald custom flag and auto-logger. There is no gameplay change and it's just make it easier on the eye. I don't think for RB suc they enfore it too bad... anyway I play my epic with that and adv, and non *****ed me so far ;)

Lurker's Comment:
That's probably because nobody noticed yet. SGs are at the captain's discretion, but the Epics and Adventures HAVE to be played in accordance with the exploits/allowed mods lists, on which none of those feature, the reason being that nobody has the time to ensure that they don't give an unfair advantage - for instance, is it possible to see more of tiles in the fog when running BMT? Does the autologger display information which the game doesn't by default? I use BMT most of the time, but I disable CustomAssets for the RB games, and so should everyone else be doing.

@tHeRat: have you got Civ on a FAT32 partition? Apparently that breaks the protection. There are a few mods floating around here, too which obviously could affect it.

I got that as well when I tried to load up RB-10 rat.

I ended up nuking everything in my documents/civ4 directory.

The game auto regens the file structure so no damage if you just move it all.

As for mods, blue marble and civscale do not trip it up.

@beef great points about fog and blue marble I didn't think about. Not sure how the standard tiles look when edged fog.

Cheers!

well, last time I uninstalled CIV4 and reinstalled, still didn't work.

If the blue mod is not ok to play, that would be silly and that's the only mod I use. I am not going to reinstall again. So, if there is no other solution, then i have to bow out, sorry.

the nuking solution isn't really good, since everytime I would have to do that before playing this game

lurker's comment:
It sounds like someone turned on the anti-cheat option. The "opening the GOTM file" comment pretty much confirms this.

I don't understand why for a SG.

You can just move the entire cutom folder set out of my documents, play the SG, then move the structure back..

Make a few short cuts for the parent folder and it's easy to swap.

Hate to see you bow out rat, I personally enjoy reading your reports in other SG's.

I have a shortcut to "C:\Documents and Settings\Liquidated\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\single" on my desktop so that when I download saves to my desktop, I just drag them over the shortcut and fireup civ.

Also, keep in mind that reinstalling CIV doesn;t change anything you added to the asset folders... that's the trap I fell into on rb-10.

BTW Not sure what level your PC 'geek' factor is, not trying to talk under or over.

Cheers!

Interesting. :hmm:
I went with "C:\Documents and Settings\Muffin\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\succession".
I keep my autologs in there. I really should be saving the turn-save there as well, but I get lazy and put it in the single/save game folder (default) instead. I know, I know.
Why make a folder if you rarely use it?
Because I feel powerful when I pretend to know what I'm doing.

Rat, I think if you follow Liq's advice you should be in like Flynn. I should try this out too, see if Liq knows what he's talking about, but it sounds logical.
If that doesn't work, I'll try voodoo. Nothing is safe from my spells and potions!
Mwa ha ha!

lurker's comment:
@Therat - Check your partition for the drive you installed Civ4 on. If it is fat32, then you can't run games with the anti-cheat option on.

The whole conversion above is meaningless if your partition is fat32.

Again, this lurker wonders why the anti-cheat option in an SG.

Here is a dotmap to discuss. By no means is this going to be the end result,
but it might help our SG look at the spacing and resources we may be able to claim.

Who knows where the barbs will place their cities, or the AI, so this dotmap may not last a turnset. Just to get us thinking about where we want to put our second city.
rb11misc28yv.jpg

Pink questionmarks are possible sites for the future, but will likely have to be adjusted as the game throws curveballs at us.

EDIT: We could put the red dot one tile north, two food resources for that city and let the blue dot fend for itself with all the ocean tiles.
With two resources it could feed a lot of specialists... and the whip would be working overtime. But diversifying makes sense too. Depends on your style, maybe? I just make these maps, not in charge of thinking though.
I'll leave that to the group. Heh heh.
