This is the thread where RBD-a will post and play their game.

Members from the other teams should not read or post in this thread. It is considered cheating, and is frowned upon. When the game is finished, the team "captain" (merely the vet rbder in the thread) will post "finished" in the original rbd 23 thread. When all teams have posted finished, we can compare score/weed and other such goodies :).

Remember, this is a fun game, and should be treated as such. The victors are the team that gets the highest score, but the winners are the people who have fun playing :).

Please confirm that you are still able to play.

no, that roster can't be based on playing ability: I'm not last :p

Confirming, and I'm quite happy to go last, seeing as how the only experience I have with monarch is gotm5. And I'm a bit busy at the moment, so hopefully it will have settled down by the time it gets to me. :)

How many turns to start?
How many turns thereafter?
I would suggest 30/20/20 and then 10 or 20 after that.

Starting line-up looks good. I am happy with any spot in the rotation. It really only matters for the first cycle anyway.

It is a small world, so keep in mind that city spacing and number will have a big effect on corruption. We may want to space our cities in a little closer than we would on larger maps. One Problem with the start in RBD12 was the spread of the cities.

This is going to be a lot of fun and hopefully the competition aspect will increase that.

This is rather a great 'set' to be an observer on. And trust me, by *not* looking at other threads it will be the most fun, for all, in the long run.

What I will suggest from a mechanics standpoint....

GET GOING! :hammer:

And if anyone won't be able to get to a game quickly, post "pass me" quickly -- don't just sit on it for days.

Good luck gents!

Holy smokes Melle - are you there? If you want smegged - I'll start us off. I typically play emperor or deity and can get us rolling.

My greatest fault (aside from massive :smoke: ) is my weak starts. Well, I've been practising, and I'd try it if it wasn't for the fact that school will keep me busy until thursday next week. Put me last or skip me, whatever suits.

Took it upon myself to go just over thirty turns to start. Twenty was a bit short - suggest we go with meldor's original suggestion 30/20/20/and 10 thereafter.

The dawn of time - guess what? The starting screenshot is deceiving - what a crappy starting location.

4000BC - Koyto founded where the settler starts. This will get an early jump on the science/happiness. The village/tribe gives us maps of their area and for the most part it's deserts and mountains. Worker sent to develop the bonus grassland square and a warrior is ordered for Kyoto. Bronze working is ordered for research - rampaging barbarians would dictate a priority on early defense.

3750BC - Warrior completed and is sent to explore the north. Another warrior is ordered in Kyoto.

3550BC - Another warrior is finished and a settler is ordered.

3450BC - We make contact with the Germans (annoyed). Trade the Wheel to Biz for Bronze Working and 10gp. Switch science to Iron Working. With the abundence of mountains - swordsmen may be in the near future.

2750BC - Osaka founded - good city sites are really at a premium.
Kyoto finished a barracks - we need to play to our strengths (military) Another settler is ordered.

2470BC - End of turn.

Suggestions for the next leader -

Iron Working is due in one turn. Suggest a course toward masonry is our next priority. Pyramids would get us started on the points we're going to need. After masonry, heading toward literature and map making would be my suggestion.

Suggest we get iron online (we should have it somewhere with all these mountains) and start getting the swordsman armies together in Kyoto after the next round of settlers. I think kicking the snot out of Biz won't be too tough and Berlin would make a nice Japanese city location, the sooner the better. Also, there are spices on the north part of the German empire. We could probably fit a city in the desert just southeast of the gold between Berlin and Kyoto - maybe later.

The following picture is my proposed settling of the north coast - yellow is my first choice and blue would be the second. There is no fresh water available either - at least two of the future cities won't be growing very fast until steam power.

And here's the empire as it stands.

Good luck to the next leader! :)
