RBO OSG7: Always War Hard

Thats a new kind of ship for me. A large bomber? Never built one! Small, medium, Huge, but never large.

I expect I'd have tried to build H-X boats. After taking out bases, they'd still be useful for ship to ship later.

We aren't threatened really. The start was too good. Lets chalk this up to learning and try the next round as small/impossible/klackons, or small/hard/bullrathi.

This discussion of tactis got me to play a samll/impossible/klackon game last night. It was tantamount to AW right till the last 5 turns when everyone made peace and voted for me  I Lost and retook multiple planets. Most fun I've had in a while :) . I have a save of it I might post at RB later to discuss tactics. I "won" the war with warp 1 laser fighters and Scat-V ships. Yes, I retook and held multiple planets in a 2 front dogpile with these flimsy things  My curiosity is to see what strategy others would have pursued.

We could also try this on the other start I already generated for this game, I expect that should give us a tougher row to hoe and possibly a better idea of how this might play out.

Maybe what I'll do is post the first 30 turns of that and see if people want to continue from there or start with completely new settings.

We are still planing on finishing this one no?

Well, I was under the impression you and dathon were for chalking this one up as a win and starting afresh. Did I misunderstand? I'd mentioned earlier we could finish the first round of turns and then decide if this start had been too easy, and we're close to that point now. However, if most people would prefer to keep going on this one, we can.

Well, I'd like to finisht it... I hate unfisnished buisness. However, if everyone wants to start over, I won't stand in the way

See, I don't mind abandoning a game once it's clear we're in a winning position. Looks to me like there's no way the AIs can do much of anything to us this time around; our start was too solid as we expected from the beginning. Need to hear from Catwalk and vmxa about whether we should abandon & start over with the harder start, or coast to a finish here.

Well, I guess this was too easy a start.

Some :smoke: on the propulsion decision, planetology decision, and those bombers that nobody likes  And we're STILL in a superior position. I don't mind abandoning for a fresh start, but I don't mind playing it out either.

BTW, I hope that makes everybody feel better, that multiple people are making sub-optimal choices. Happens to everybody, and I'm learning a ton (hope everybody else is too) while having fun :)

I am pretty sure no one is perfect and all will make either a flat out mistake or at least a choice the others would not care for.

Me I like to bounce concept back and forth. Sometimes, I can be convinved other time we have to agree to disagree. Both could be correct as one size may fit all, but one prefers a specfic size, or as the EPA says YMMV.

I can't thing of a single SG in any game that a solid player did not log an oops. When you are jumping in and out of the game, it is so easy to lose track of things or forget to do X or Y. I just say roll with the punch.

If someone doesn't make a single choice that others doesn't care for then he's doing something wrong :P

I'm not concerend. IF we wana move on to RBO8, ill finsih the tale as a solo adventure and post a summary here. How's that?

Or we could do a 2 man tango with it if somone wanted also. It'd probably be over in just a few days that way.

Then I get closure and no one else gets held up :)

OK, I'm gonna go to the christmass party at work (even though I'm off). If I don't see any objections or see a volunteer to play hot potato with, I'll grab it tonite and finish it by tomorrow most likely.

Go ahead, I am still trying to get normal mode on Diablo LoD done with a new character and I am most of the way thorugh Act V. That is a good stop point for me.

I still have a game of Civ4 hanging fire as well.

Or it means the game is not a strategy game, but a cookbook. :)

Ok, I'll leave this thread for your summary... but if we're just going to use the other start that I generated, then I'll start 7a rather than 8, since it's basically a continuation of the same theme, just with an unfriendly start instead of a tame one.

Is everyone else up for that or would you folks rather see something else?
