Re-enabling acheivements on a save after using Fire Tuner

Wondering what steps need to be taken to do this.

I have tried changing the .config from EnableTuner = 1 to 0.
I tried uninstalling the SDK.
I moved the game save from the modded saves folder to the regular saves folder.

How is the game tracking the fact that I used the Firaxis Tuner? (I added gold to my civ at the beginning of an otherwise unmoded game).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to edit the save file itself then to get rid of the modded tag?

You'd need to track down the byte(s) in the save file and then use a hex editor to directly make changes - not recommended!
