Read Before Playing With Patch!!!

Ok I am a bit dramatic, but whatever you do don't use the function keys! You will be booted from your game, numerous people have been. I tried them all to see, and sure enough I was booted. I SURE HOPE that this can be patched fast. I am VERY confused for one thing. I test software in quality assurance for a software company and there is ZERO chance that stuff like this could get past us, I REALLY fail to understand how the QA team at FIRAXIS is run????? All that said, I do enjoy the game very much and don't mean to be a pessimist, I love the game and the changes in the patch. Lets patch the patch SOON!

I saw it mentioned in another thread as well. I have the patch, but after reading about some of these crash bugs, strange population # color and whatnot, I'm reluctant to install it. I'll probably just wait for the fix. *sigh*

they're all too busy rebooting their systems . this function key/crash business doesn't seem plausible to me. did anyone subject flubberdubs to a breathalyzer before he signed on?

Drunk of my arse!!! j/k but seriously I got it playing a previously saved game so if that is it then no biggy because it's just one game. Load a game, then press your function keys - it will likely crash, and you may also have black rectangles all over your screen in the windows accessed by the function keys.

mine was in a saved game as well-- I REALLY want to finish this game... its my fav one yet... 1 huge continent and 1 semi large continent... im in the middle of the huge continent surrounded by 8 civilizations... well more like 5 now... mmm conquest...anyways i really wanted to finish that game cause having the ai come all out at you from every direction is great fun when you have forts all around your perimeter filled up with high hitting % ZOC and artillery units

For me F1-F9 are working fine, but the game crashes everytime I try to close the F10 window. F11 works fine too. Only the F10 window...

I'm sorry, but it worked fine for me. I'm a mouse player anyway, so I never use the function keys. Maybe it's an OS thing. I'm on W98. You?

Opps. Just saw. XP. I've seen so many reports of problems with that OS.

Haven't installed the patch, but XP has been nothing but reliable for me since getting it. I haven't crashed a *single* time with it, which is loads more than I can say about Win 9x.

I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but my new PC came with XP, so I'm enjoying it.
