does anybody play this? all VC off? no capital sniping, which is kinda lame. does anything special kick in when it comes to AI behaivour? i only found a three year old thread and i wont be gravedigging here.

also what would be the strategy, especially on large/huge maps. really getting into late game warfare. beeline nukes?:nuke: to find out you have no uranium?

i think i found my favourite game mode :D

There was a thread, I think 'Deity total domination challenge' or something similar. The challenge was to conquer all cities except for city states while city razing is not allowed.
I played a game like this on immortal a while back. Continents, standard speed and size.

The main problem with your suggestion is that you have unlimited time to win, because AI can't. Not even on deity. Spaceship is the best AI's bet and while you can restrict yourself to only one VC, restricting the AI is probably not the best idea. Can't say much about large/huge maps.

well you still could lose strategically to a runaway on the other continent getting way ahead on tech. this is especially true on large/huge continent maps, because it will take you a lot of time to chew through your continent, but yeah they are unlikely to use that advantage against you.

there is also rescource limitations. or say you went artillery and start attackin somebody and they start great war bombing you. it will be a serious step backwards to have to retreat, grab oil, build airforce, comeback and prolly fight fighters with triplanes or such.

i just find it sad that the last third of the techtree mostly never comes to any real use ( except speedtech through it to "escape win")

That is one of the reasons why I find the scenario "deity" significantly easier, since science is locked/slowed.

Once you make it to modern era alive and the AI cannot snipe a diplo/science win, you've pretty much won. The AI cannot use nukes effectively where as the human player can. I believe the AI just targets border cities with them while you can clear entire carpets of doom in a single turn, then roll in and take everything.

You can't lose tactically. Here's a perfect example of AI's tactical skill. Tech tree is finite, eventually you'll catch up in science, get bombers and then win with 99.99% probability.

mh that might actually be a good idea, enable diplo win but not go for it, giving the ai that option. of course you would want to add greece, siam, austria, sweden :P

The AI cannot win on pure domination, but you can still most definitely lose. That is, provided there are aggressive enough AI neighbors around...you don't have any easy outs anymore.
