Realism Invictus

By quickly glancing over few pages worth of replies, I can see how the development and community work together - something for the bigger companies to realize and learn. Great job.

EDIT: Seems like I'm not going to be able to play this mod due to specific system technicalities. Shame.

:(

I hear you, for a long time I was unable to play because I had 32bit processor that gave me constant MAF erros, and let's be real, this mod loses a lot of it's epicness when you can only play on small maps, and even then only until Industrial age if you are lucky.

This 8gb of RAM with Windows 7 was like a chorus of angels singing when I booted up RI and launched a tank invasion of europe. :king:

Well, I hope one day your machine troubles will cease to exist, I'm sure Realism Invictus will still be around then, it's an awesome mod. :goodjob:

Don't be chained by store-bought computers!:cringe:
Well, if I may, learning how to build/upgrade your own pc's is not so hard. Maybe invest a little time into it and in the end you'll be happy. I have built mine for the past 7 yrs or so..and generally can play what I choose.:badcomp:

It may seem like a daunting task to learn, but in reality it's not-so-hard, just some inter-webbing/or a friend with the knowledge..to start there are 13 parts to a functioning pc, not so bad. Also this past school year I 'mentored' one of my 14yr old's classmates on building his pc(school project 8th grade)...and he did fine.

Nothing like that - I have a top notch custom built PC. It's just that I have been a victim of software counterfeiting.

EDIT: 8core CPU (FX8120), adequate 650Ti, 6GB RAM, so performace shouldn't be an issue. Maybe not exactly top notch, but when Civ4 is considered, it is. It's the visual c++ what fails.

You should probably explain in more detail. It is most likely that we can help you.

Playing as Pericles, Huge World Map, SVN 4339, I've noticed something which I am not sure is intentional or not:

Cannons don't seem to be getting all the promotions I would normally guess they would. For example, they get Fort Bonus II, but not I. They are also not receiving Overcrowding, even though they add to the total (unlike the 0 movement Fortress/City only artillery line, which doesn't add to the overcrowding, nor receives it.)

Is this WAD or a bug? When I saw this happening with the 0 movement ones, I thought it was a neat feature. Now that I see similar stuff happening with the Cannons, I'm not so sure.

Playing with the last revision, I noticed that the buildings for trade multipliers are not working for me (I mean they do not increase the commerce regarding the trade routes, I only have the "connection to the capital" thing). Then I entered cheat mode and saw that they were working for the AI though. Anybody else experiencing this?

Toll and taxes should be fixed, in eras when it can be buid it has 0 affect for human player, just too weak basic revenue to add this 25%.
BTW. what map script and settings work best for RI std setting, 9civs higher diff levels, i play madium maps, any suggestions?

Runtime error. C++ related. Saw a mention of dx9 in the filename also when trying to view the hall of fame. The mod starts just fine, but doesn't allow to fully start a game after picking leader etc.

Key part here is that Visual C++ doesn't install properly because of software counterfeiting. All I can say not to break any rules.

Have you guys looked into adding usable mountains? (w/ techs and promotions that allow moving over, building cities on, and working peaks)
It's slightly frustrating that (as the Inca no less) a peak will eternally force me to load my units onto boats to get to my northern Aztec enemies..
Spoiler :

And yes I know it's part of gameplay to have to deal with it but isn't it realistic that at least in the industrial/modern age I could have mountain passes or tunnels? Maybe with explosives and railroad you could build through them.. or a wonder.. or a promotion only available with a GG.. something?
EDIT: I just read over it and I realized how complaining this seems- I don't mean to be rude or ungrateful, you guys do great work!

I've been playing Realism: Invictus for a few months now, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. So thanks for that.

There is a problem I've been having with it, however. I've tried to Could I get someone to look over this scenario and tell me if there's something wrong with it? When I attempt to load the scenario, it causes Civ4 to crash right to the desktop.

Same here, on new hot laptop:confused:

:coffee:Something else I been thinking on is a hard limit on max builds on most units which could be based on history where possible. The better and more powerfull the unit the more the limit, example a max of 8 carriers or 10 battleships ect. This could be really usefull on seige and aricraft so you couldnt build a unrealistic number of 1 type example you cant buld 50 cannons, have a max of say 20 at any one time or 30 knights ect. I can see this helping the ai and allowing better balanced games. The defensive units could have more leeway, archers/pikeman ect. This concept is already in the game for the special builds but could be applied to equal more realistic across the board armies. I see it forcing alot of thought on who to attack and how to space your troops. So most every unit could have a max build.

Ok so I placed a 100 world cap on heavy privateer and realized tonite the AI doesnt build them. Im guessing that the 1 gold extra cost causes it. Im still using 3.1 so maybe its been fixed/detected already. Dont know if ai will build other units with added gold cost. Other caps showed me exactly how many of certain units the ai has built in my current game but the heavy privateer still shows 100 avail. to build. Im exp with caps on units esp seige units/cap ships ect.

Any plans to remove game breaking unit abilities in the future, couse i m curious how its possible that turkish cavalry (timerlot) attacks siegie units first outside cities? Its sick and impossible to explain historicallyand realistically( telaportation in reneisance?), at receiving end you may forget about using (not cheap) artillery, and as turkish player, you cant destroy treatening infantry that can capture city and couse collateral to siege, instead you attack non essentail units, with tons of units, giving additional random abilities takes away any war strategy planning from game.

Will check into that tonite to see what civics. Also I really like unit limits so far but will take alot of playing to see how it plays out.

I just tried the huge world map on the SVN, and spotted something:
Playing as the egyptian, at the beginning of the game, i can see the berber city of Garama. Is it working as intended?

On the + side, i totally love the new music! ^_^

Yes. It's a bug, a very minor bug.
The map is working as intended. :p
