Haven't posted in awhile so thought I would post this strange start.
Facts
playing warlords (no BTS until they release for mac  )
The civ I am playing is Hannibal on small map on nobel difficulty (finally moving up from warlord)
using planet generator the latest one

When I started the game i noticed that Rangar was sitting right next to me  ? ? so first i decided to move my warrior to a pot below and found a scout and scouted over to the nearest hill. I would rather be on the square right next to the warrior and cottage the two 5 food squares that would be in my area, but if i move rangar will settle in spot. I want to be able to go take his capital out 1) keep it so that means letting it grow to pop 2 and 2) be able to work 19-21 tiles

any suggestions?

Thats only his scout though, hopefuly his settler will be a bit further away, plus even if his settler is in the same tile than his scout, he cant settle within a 2 tile ring from you, meaning he will waste a turn or two moving to settle somewhere else and therefor will be easier to attack.

All AI units start in the same spot.. Not much you can do though...

Yes i understand but i want to move my guy too the spot next to my warrior it would mean a much healthier city with all those additional trees and reduced amount of flood planes. hmm I wonder what would happen if just declared way right away would he move away or plant down?

I guess what i am asking which is a better spot to settle in where i am now or next to the warrior

Talking of weird starts how about this one?

I actually think thats not a lake, thats sea, otherwise there would be more food/commerce per tile and there would be no seafood.

Its not that bad though, I actually think I would try and play that out, Im not sure which civ are you, Im not very used to the CIV flags, but if you start with fishing go with a workboat, a warrior if you dont, blah, blah I bet you know this.

Just imagine if you where dutch though. Moai+Dykes+Fin+Bureacracy, throw in The Colossus and the fact that all trade routes with your own other cities will be +2 before modifiers. Actually I would also make ToA a priority in this case. WOW that would be an awesome city huh?

And then imagine a GA there too!!!

Those are not flood plains though they are just riverside plains, flood plains give 3F 1C not 1F 1H 1C, you should be alright right where you where spawned, as long as you take Ragnar out ASAP.

And still while flood plains give unhealthiness thats just to balance the insane amount of food, great improvements you can build on them and the health bonus for fresh water, flood plains starts are nothing to sneeze at.

And finally your spot is also a premium since you have access to the coast without having many coastal tiles in the BFC, meaning you can build nice buildings such as harbors, but dont have to work coastal tiles that unless Fin kinda suck.

The civ is Peter of Russia so start with hunting and mining it was also OCC on a rainforest map.
It might be sea, but it would have to be only a little one

Its not as bad as some starts i've seen but having to wait till sailing to improve any tiles is definitely going to screw up your early game

correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the dutch UB still need a river?

No, the dike a river needeth not.
Which map script puts flood plains on grassland?

I'm confused by your question. Are you thinking the AI scout is about to found a city right there? I'm sure the AI has already founded a city, and theres no telling where, or how far away. If I were you I'd lead my warrior up that river to look for a good 2nd city location, and scout west to look for copper/horse resources. Then plan on taking out enemy AI.

its only 4000 BC, which means ragnar hasn't founded his city yet, meaning his settler is either underneath that scout, or 1 or 2 squares away, which is a bit of a unique opportunity (aka free capital)

Ouch! I guess you will be in a hurry to get naval technologies!

I'd probably just march my warrior over there and take his capital before he gets a single military unit. Skillful.

unfortunitly his warrior is a good 6/7 turns away from the enemy city, by that time the AI will have at lest ONE unit.

ps, how'd you get those loaves? a flood plain on grassland? never seen that before.

@ TheMeInTeam,Revenant27 can't take a city unless it has 2 pop or more

@ weekend_warrior the loaves come with custom setting in planet generator i have it setup so that its cool (no deserts) and flood planes only appear next too fresh water

But you can raze his capital. He will waste at least one turn moving away from you. Then you can build a city where you like. It's a capital level city site.
