I know this has been talked about before. But in the efforts of improving everyone's multiplayer enjoyment. Lets talk about the benefits of being part of a MP League.

1. If someone drops, players will either reload or let you hotjoin into the game. No more games going MIA when you drop and have no link to the players you were playing with in public lobby.

2. Finding players. CiV MP community is not as large as it could be. Bugs and connectivity issues have scared many away. So we need to band together!

3. Making MP friends. Its fun to be a part of a league, where you get to know some of the players, how they play, their talents, etc.

4. Competition. Want to claim to be the best? Then play the best. Dont play 25 noobs and think your da bomb because your 25-0. Our league uses a nice ladder ranking system, even if you dont care about your own rank. Its nice to have statistics and increases competition. Besides, who doesn't want to play against #1?

i just did 4-hog coton. Very boring settings. No diplomacy whatsoever-always war. Small maps and 100 or so turn limit. I dont think i want to play that bore again. I find it much more fun doing standard-8 player maps.

You will never get a 8 player MP game to work, yes we all would like to see the return of Civ4BTS style 5v5 teamers, but that is just not possible right now, 4 player games are the practical limit with the code as it is.

But it does sound like you played an Anc cton which does tend to be fairly boring as most of the game is building up, Medieval or later era games are much faster and more exciting.

I would like to make a mod to make both building and units cheaper too but we have to wait for Firaxis to enable mods and solve what ever issues they had with that.

If everyone are set to same local network, have a good internet connection (cable) and Quad cores i think it's very possible to set 8 players game. This is not supposed to, but now it's almost the only solution.

I finished one and i got only 2 upload pages for 20 seconds each time. For a 4+ hour game, upload pages don't affect much.

Maybe on a LAN with all above average computers yes, but I'm talking about internet games, sometimes you can get upto 6 players, but you really have to know they are all low ping to you and all have very good computers.

Actually I host 8-player games every weekend and sometimes after work on the weekdays. Its not that bad. We do get frozen loading screens, drops and freezes sometiems ,but u can always rejoin and reload. Any less then 8-ffa is insulting for my vast intellect.
