Hopefully, this thread will serve the purpose of all the "Should I get X?" or "What's similar to Y?" threads that may or may not be a problem.

Anyway, I really like the Golden Sun series, the first two especially - though Dark Dawn's mechanical stuff was superior, there was only one battle in the game after a certain point that challenged me (the second bonus boss - the other bonus boss(es? forgot) and final boss were pretty damn easy). Also, few of the puzzles were hard, but that might be due to me having played both GS games numerous times and therefore having too much experience in the matter.

I would love to be able to play a game similar to Golden Sun, but I don't know of anything fun with environment puzzles and turn-based RPG combat.

I think most people here are pc gamers (unless I'm wrong, then I deserve a slap). But I will recommend to you the last Gameboy game that I played, which was Warioland for the original gameboy.

playa, playa, playa!

Lately a lot of us seem to be playing X Com Enemy Unknown, which is not for the gameboy, but still very fun. I myself have been playing also Tropico 4 and Jagged Alliance Back in Action, which were good on their own terms (JABIA is a very flawed game though, but gotta love those long matches).

I absolutely fail to see how Wario Land relates to Golden Sun.

Are there any good newer buisness sims to the tune of old tycoon games, capitalism II, etc?

All I see are awfull attempts to cash in on the "Tycoon" name or targeted at elementary schoolers.

Is this genre dead?

My cousin has the one where you beat up the Golden Diva at the end. It's pretty fun, but I don't really want to play it again. I like the Mario RPGs more than Wario Land or the Mario platformers. But that doesn't matter because I'm looking for something similar to Golden Sun. :p

Well, despite popular demand, there's still not a single sub forum dedicated to Warioland and/or Wario related news here on Civfanatics. Things are just very political sometimes.

What is our one demand?, Wario!!

But now what we are full on the Wario, even Warioland for the Virtual Boy was pretty good come to think about it.

Unfortunately not. I saw one game a while back that was going to recreate American politics and economics but I have no idea where it went and it was on Kickstarter.

Here's a neat board game, though!

In case anyone here doesn't know about them, I figure I'm legally obliged to provide a link to Paradox Interactive. I'm guessing the overwhelming majority of people here will know about them anyway though. Their core entries are all pretty fun, I personally have CK2, EU3, and Vicky2. I am unable to comment on external developed, Paradox-published titles however.

Aside from that, I would recommend Tropico 4 for sure. A very good city-builder set in the Caribbean, it is one of the only simulation games I have played in quite some time, excluding the older Sierra City-Building games.

I don't think that anyone who actually reads this subforum doesn't know about Paradox. Many of us play their games and we used to have quite a few AARs for them, good times, good games.

You'd think. Still, you never know.

Then follow the link. :p

I don't know what Paradox is. :(

Pseudo-historical grand strategy games. Terrible quality on release but become amazing with patches and expansions. Known for treating their fanbase with a ton of respect. You can get them on the very cheap too.
