Recommend me a game thread

Catapults and the rest of the useful siege engines all have ranged attacks so that's kinda pointless.

Hahaha, that's exactly how I used to play AoE. I still have fond memories of playing 7-on-1 on Arabia at the hardest difficulty. Basically I'd wall in trying to secure as many resources as possible and then start a long, 4-5 hour slog eliminating my opponents one by one.

Yeah, after about 2 hours the AI would start to run out of resources and only have wood and farms (and maybe fish) left to harvest and sell at their markets so they'd just end up using fewer and cheaper units to attack with. I did it largely to keep out my own AI allies though, buggers always tried to steal my resources.

On the highest difficulties vs. AI in AoE2, turtling was really the only option. Because let's be realistic - if you're fighting outnumbered 7-to-1 by a bunch of players who get thousands of each resource every time they go up an age, you should lose and it's only by badly abusing a gap in the AI that you can win. In AoE2, that gap was that they didn't really understand how to break down a turtling player, and settled for sending modest waves at fairly regular intervals towards generally predictable points. Try that same strategy in MP AOE2 and you get smacked (as I did the first few times I tried MP).

I don't doubt that. But I never had any interest in playing MP AoE2

Once played AoE2 MP against someone who was rated Gold in SC2.

Never again.

For anyone partial to racing:

Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed.

It's the sequel to the acclaimed Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing (which was called by some sources the best racer on the PS3 and 360), and greatly improves on some of the other's flaws. Grand Prix is now multiplayer, for one. There's many innovative modes you can use to challenge people, and there's a World Tour that will test your skills to unlock all the goodies.

I know I'm going to seem biased, but I think objectively it's a pretty good racer. If nothing else, it's very nostalgic to see worlds from so many old Sega games rendered in beautiful HD.

It can be very challenging to stay in first place as well, and anyone who loves to test their skills will find incredibly difficult challenges if they so desire.
