This XML MOD COMP changes spread rates on religions so this way Judaism wont be the leading world religion. It also gives every religion a special unique unit.
Enjoy.

1,000TH post! [party] :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The Jewish Slinger, the Budhist Warmonk the Islamic Mamluk, the Chistian Knights, the Taoist Canoneer, the Confusian Imperial Spearman, and the Hindu Hypastitist.

I think you should replace the jewish missionary(jews never had missionaries) with something like a jewish settler that every city they found will be automaticly jewish

Well I'd have to add a new religion and that would take balancing.

I might be able to do that.

What needs to be added is Hellenism! Especially with all of the Mediterranean civs, there's a real missing link for those Greek and Roman players.

Cheers!

I would highly disagree with the inclusion of the Greek Mythos. The game says that all your people are polythestic/worship ancient deities or spirits until a "modern" religion is spread to them. If there is any long-lasting world religion that may earn a slot in the game, it would be Zoroastrianism.

I'm thinking this mod could be combined with the BtS "Gods of Old" mod for some fun as well.

An excellent flavor mod -- I'd like to put religion unique units into HephMod, and I'd like to incorporate some of these units. Some realism comments, however:

I like Jewish skirmishers, but the Jewish armies of David's time were renowned for hit and run light infantry tactics, not for slings. Maybe one could find a good graphic for Jewish skirmisher infantry? I seem to remember in Amra's mod for Warlords there was a Maccabees unit (sword and small shield)?

Hindu Hypaspists? I think a Kshatriya Chariot unit would be more historical (think Mahabharata) and would fit nicely into the theme of a religion founded so early in the game.

Taoist Hand Cannoneer? No historical basis for this AFAIK. Taoist military units I think would be more like the guerilla anarchist societies of the early modern period (with such flavorful names as Society of the White Lotus), who practiced martial arts in secret and waged terrorist actions against the Imperial government. I'll need to do a bit more research on this one.

I very much like the other religion units you've made here. Good work!

I have some extra time (and high speed) now so I'll start updating my stuff! And you can use my Religions Mod Comp if you want! I absolutely love your Mod! ;)

Thanks for the ego-bump! I've made a lot of big changes this week ... added Inquisitors, StackAid, the old abbamouse religion flavor mod, and a new Civics category plus one new civic in each category. I should be uploading the version with these changes in just a day or two (your units won't be in that version, but probably the next one!).

well, jews did have people that spread their religion to new places such as Kazakhstan. only Spaniards really ever built missions.

Are you sure? Kazakhstan's in central asia. Islamic missionary activity was common in the middle ages: also, British Mormons are the fastest growing faith - everyone converts everyone else.

WIKIPEDIA said:
Islam is the largest religion in Kazakhstan, followed by Russian Orthodox Christianity. Kazakhs are mainly Sunni Muslims of the Hanafi school, and the Russians are Russian Orthodox. In 1994, some 47 percent of the population was Muslim, 44 percent was Russian Orthodox, and 2 percent was Protestant, mainly Baptist.[29] Based on a 2007 data of, The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UK, Islam was practiced by 57% of the population, Christianity 40% and other religions 3%

I suspect he's referring to the Khazars, a Germanic tribe of mercenaries that converted to Judaism to ease relations with their Christian and Muslim employers.

Actually they were Turkic, but you're right. The Khazars state religion was Judaism.
