Repeal Incumbent Rule?

I agree with shaitan on this . Yes, A mod with a leader poistion does give them more power in political discussions, but that is a good thing to me.... That means that there is someone who is likely to understand what happens.... What did happen... and how the other players feel about the sitution more than a mod who just went through and warned and banned a few people.

Seems too high. That would have been about half of DG1 and a third(?) of DG2. Plus, a player could serve 3 terms, take a term off and come back for 3 more. If you really want diversity then limit players to one term in each leadership office. The only restriction on deputies need be that a player can not be a deputy for an office he or she already held.

Even this idea would allow a player to hold an office all through the demogame - it would just have to be a different office each term.
I wouldn't want to make a "one and out" rule, especially if it's going to be "never again". How would anybody get experience in a position? I could go for 2 terms on, 2 terms off. How does that sound?

A bit spacey to me... Why not 2 terms on one term off?

Shaitan... Could you split the posts that are "off-topic" from this thread and make them into a new thread?

Honestly, I've been concerned about mods holding leadership positions ever since we passed that law. The power a mod holds is just so incredible that it will almost inevitably conflict with Fanatikan politics. In general, I agree with everything Eklektikos and donsig have stated.

A term limit rule sounds like a good idea to me - this pervents the infamous political dynasties that have developed over the terms (ex: Strider in science).

3 terms might be too much, though. By that third term, a leader has way too much momentum. It's almost hopeless to stop them by then,
I'd also add in a clause that limits someone to a total (not consectuive) numbers of terms, like limit 2 consecutive terms, limit 4 terms total. We can all agree mobility is good when it comes to the game.

donsig, the lack of response and participation in that Site Feedback thread sort of indicates that it is not an issue with the players of the game. I know you feel strongly about it and I don't want to snub your concerns but I just don't see it the way you do. I suggest you open a discussion thread on the topic and maybe poll it again. Previous poll results have shown conclusively that the majority of players welcome mods in Leadership positions.

In any case we should take this sidebar out of this discussion thread.

I think the lack of response was due more to the fact that non-mods do not frequent the Site Feedback sforum. that was the first and only time I even looked at that forum in two years of posting. There's no point in repolling the idea until it is time to talk about the next demogame.

As for 1 vs 2 vs 3 term limits, well, 2 is better than 3 (IMHO) but not as good as 1. :D I guess we should stop discussing this here as well, because it is off topic. :(

As for repealing the incumbent rule, I don;t think this thread shows much support for that. Perhaps a poll would settle the matter?
