Rerolling

If you set up your game in the advanced setup, then hit 'back' and start your game from the "simple" menu the game will remember your settings if you reroll from a bad start.

Yes, the game saves "start game profile" fields only when the game is started from the simple menu. This is true for the simple fields, as well. Somebody forgot to implement the save function with the advanced start button. Just knowing that trick saves 2/3rd of the reroll clicking if you're using any advanced settings.

As far as won lost records, I very rarely FINISH a game. You get to the point where you are so dominate its just not worth finishing and its boring (or your so dead, it not worth finishing as the case maybe).

That's true. I think maybe the game needs a supremacy/puissancy victory/defeat condition. Say, if your score is twice the second placer's, you win. If your score is less than half the leader's, you lose. I just save the game with "win" or "loss" appended to the filename and move on.

And if its single player, anyone worth his salt can rig the game to slant the stats his way anyway. Pick the map and civs against you and go to town. You can run up your win record to whatever you want. So if you want to go to the that much trouble to "cheat", have at it.

Again I agree. If people want to game the system and kid themselves they're the greatest player alive, fine. The issue arises because it's not totally single player. As I understand it there are publicly visible trophies that some people care about. I don't and I've never looked, but you see threads here about how to game the system to get various trophies the easy way.

I wasn't talking about rerolling specifically (I rarely do). Next time I fire up Civ5, my settings are gone. Simple as that and annoying as hell.

It's hardly in the spirit of the game, do your CPU oppontents get to re-roll? There's a lot of satisfaction to be had winning from an ugly start.

Should we have a re-roll on combat as well? :crazyeye:

There is already an option for that, "New Random Seed".
I think it's about giving ppl the choice.

Amen!

The only setting I click in advanced is Quick combat. Quick combat is such a time saver that I can't imagine playing without it anymore. I wish this would stay, as I hate to find out I forgot once more to click it and need to restart a game a couple of turns in (happens way too often).

I asked the same question before and I think there is a way to edit the game profile file in your steam directory to make the options stick.
