I'm new to this forum and I looked, but if my question is answered elsewhere, please let me know where.

I decided to keep track of the cost of tech advancements is science points and noticed a descepency. As Rome, I researched Monarchy. As soon as the "choose new tech" screen came up, I chose Monarchy and went to Domestic Advisor screen and changed the science slider so I had only 2 science. It said it would take 40 turns. I changed the slider upward until I had 32 science and it said it would take 15 turns. Something doesn't add up. Is it something like Master of Orion where you get "interest" on science points?

Thanks

First welcome to Civfannatics!

Second, it is the wrong forum (this is reserved for strategy articles, would be better in "General Civ")

Third...I think what confuses you is the max research time. You will get every tech in 40(Conquests 50) turn, if you spend at least 1 science to research (could be from a scientist).Regardless of how expensive it is.However, to research it faster than that you have to spend more and more points if tech progresses.Hope this helps.
