Just bought Civ III today and have a question I can't find in the manual, how the heck do I establish trade networks across oceans? I build harbors on either continent (They aren't blockled by other ships) and I linked one harbor up to my capital and the other to some iron. However I was not able to produce any swordsman, chariots or Knights (Yes I have horses however). Do you need navigation before you can cross the ocean for trade or am I missing something?

Yes, I think you need navigation before you can. I recall not being able to trade with a far away civ when both of us had harbors that connected to our capitals in the middle ages.

I think you must have barracks in the city along with iron and horses to build knits. Good luck!
