Firstly, I'd like to say well done to all involved in making such a fantastic site!!!
I've spent the last few hours touring the site and am amazed at how much information there is here .... give yourselfs all a pat on the back. How time flys when your having fun ....
Now to the question in hand (1st post so be gentle please)
Ive been playing civ3 conquests for the last 2 months and have always had a niggling question I hope you wonderful people can now answer .... its to do with resources (iron, coal, etc), is their postion on the map pre-determind at the start of a game? The reason I ask is that I love nothing more than chopping down jungles and clearing swamps but am always concerned that by doing so I may not reap the resources that may appear on such a tile in the future ..... simply put, if I chop down a jungle to grassland will coal still appear on this tile in the future? (when the relevant advance is made of course that allows coal to appear)
Also, when coal (for instance) appears on a jungle tile that is within my citys radius, will it "run out" quicker if I clear the jungle to grassland? And is there something that determines how quickly a resource will "run out"?
On my last game, my only coal source "ran out" but a few seconds later a "new" source appeared!!
Im just using coal as an example, as it can appear on a tile that be changed. Obviously the same doesn't apply when resources appear on hills or mountains as these tiles cannot be changed.
Im sure I will have more questions in the future but lots of reading to do here 1st!!!!
