Respect and Fear in Multiplayer?

The more I think about it the more I think the new diplomacy is not actually based off the AI flavors at all, meaning their atittudes are based purely on your game actions, something that can be used for human players as well

All traits have an action that increases respect whilst the army thing or whatever controlls fear is also game based.

With that, I see no reason why they can't implement a system that mirrors the system for both Human and AI.

Sorry for double post but it's been like a week so I think it's fair.

Today's (27th Aug) livestream pretty much explained that there's no Respect and Fear, but the relationship levels do exist and work the same way. War Score is also enabled in Multiplayer

Which means YAS! Finally! So happy they did this, my Hotseat games will now actually feel better than they did ever in Civ 5 :D

I guess I'm disappointed but not surprised that the Respect and Fear mechanics do nothing in multiplayer.

I wonder if they fixed the AI's inability to propose deals to humans in multiplayer.

I'm not. Respect and Fear doesn't do much to begin with. in AI terms it controls what friendship level is available. You can't simulate a human since that wouldn't be realistic.

You can still pay and increase your Alliance/Friendship levels with Human players and reap the same benefits but you no longer have a thresehold and could just jump straight into an alliance.

Double poster, for shame [emoji36]

Still, this is still a nice addition to multiplayer, so I'm happy. MP is so starved for love that anything it gets is good in my book

thanks for the info!

And given the fact that old DIplomacy system is out the window I hope that the humans can partake in this sort of "game" since I will get very frustrated with Firaxis continuing to downgrade the MP experience between human players when the features they've built have an effect on the game!

OK, so in a thread about the Respect and Fear mechanics in multiplayer you first say that you'll be frustrated if MP is missing mechanics that exist in SP, and then when it turns out that those mechanics are in fact missing, you post

Respect/Fear would not have been impossible to implement between human players - both Endless Legend and Europa Universalis 4 have implemented comparable features that work in multiplayer, and it's a shame BERT will be leaving them out of multiplayer.

They left out a feature that has little impact on the game. They kept the most important bits.

Same way as I wouldn't be disappointed if they left out leader attitudes but kept Denoucements and DoFs properly in Civ 5 MP.

Fear/Respect don't impact your game that much, they are theresholds that need to be passed through

Logically it makes sense because, I don't think I want to consider myself fearful because theg ame believes I should be fearful.
