Is anybody aware of a mod I can use so that a city retains most if not all of its cultural influence when conquered?

I'm playing Civilization III Complete (very much a dabbler just now :D) and find it very irritating that I can conquer a city but not get all the territory & resources associated with it. Instead the territory goes to either a nearby higher-culture city allied to another civilisation, or it goes 'neutral' and then other civilisations set up cities in the space before my newly-conquered city can expand. (I suppose I could put settlers in myself, but then I end up with less-than-ideal city distributions.)

The only mod I've found so far in here was for Civ4. Please point me towards one for C3C?

Having made this post, I've now seen this thread through the 'similar threads' list below. Is that my answer? Is the editor part of C3C? Does it only apply to maps that you make yourself or anything like that? Is it a setting that can be changed during a game? (Just curious on that last one.)

The editor is definitely the way to go. It is a stand-alone program, not integreated into the game. You can find it in the same folder that your C3C executable lives

You can make a "scenario" file with the changes you describe, and run that instead of the "normal" game. If you set it up correctly, the only difference will be the changes you made to the rules. Talk to the folks in the Creation & Customization forum for detailed assistance. :)

When you use the editor, you are creating a custom game for yourself, and depending on what you do, you will only have the use of the changes on that particular map. I would recommend posting your interest in the Creation and Customization forum, where you will be deluged by information. As for changing the setting during the game, that is not an option. Be advised that if you have any interest in posting on the Hall of Fame, that only accepts standard, unmodified games.

Thanks for the replies. It seems a bit of newbieness has shown through on my part in that I thought C3C meant Civlization III Complete rather than Conquests. I found the option mentioned in the Editor for the Conquests version but it's not present in the 'normal' (?) version which is what I was aiming for.

I'll repost the request in the modding forum, if that's not bad netiquette for this place.

Thanks again.
