I think we're all in the same boat. If I were playing a single-player game, I would have re-rolled my start as well. With this many players in the game, it's impossible for everyone to have an awesome start. Plus, I'm sure that your capitals have some hidden resources just waiting to be exposed...

Just think how the troops must feel ... trudging miles over hills, through forests, wading through rivers, all in the anticipation of capturing a beautiful capital. They finally come into sight of their destination ... and then they say stuff it and go home when they realise their target is an even crappier capital than their own
