Review of Civ III:Conquests at IGN

The Celts are agricultural?

I wonder what trait did they lose? it says in a screenshot in that review that they're militaristic and industrious but that must have been from an earlier screenshot. Or that's just for that conquest...

I suppose they must be mil. and agr.

How come in that Fall Of Rome screenshot Ireland and Britain are both red?

didn't Rome fall before 1000 A.D.? A good bit before 1000 A.D.?

-"Bombers can now destroy ships through bombardment and submarines can choose which unit to attack when going up against a stack of enemies."

Brilliant!! Man, that's going to make a difference.

That would be my guess. The Iroquois are probably Rel, Agr. I pretty much expected this.

Which one, the breifing to Fall of Rome?

I think the Celts are green (way up in Britain) and the rest is Rome.

EDIT: And yes, Rome fell before that point.

What's this ridiculous obsession with what score the reviewer gave it?

Does it make a difference to you? Are you now not going to buy it because you think it deserved 3 tenths of a point more?

Geez, talk about being obsessive.....:D

I got the impression that the reviewer was a Civ fan. Maybe he liked PTW. (There are many people who would tell you that PTW was a vast improvement over vanilla civ).

Well, yeah, he was a Civ fan because he said that he has played hundreds of games. :D

The only reason why I (with some other people) am saying that the score is a bit low is because the game should not be scored based on gameplay alone ( and it wasn't on gameplay alone. And yes, I would give it a higher score even if it was) but on improvements to Vanilla and PTW which are huge, and this is my reasoning. :)

Must say i liked PTW and thought it was worth buying. I don't play multiplayer games which may explain why i liked it and others didn't? I have only one question, what will the map be like in the WW2 scenario? I ask because i wonder if it will be a full world map or just a map involving the countries in the scenario? I also wonder if the cities will be the appropriate size and have the appropriate level of production?

Actually I think that screenshot was from some Neapoleonic war thingy. It's just that all around it they were taking about the Rise Of Rome and the Fall Of Rome...

On Republic:

With such high unit costs, will there be any good use for this governemnt? Can you maintain one unit in each city, as to not be destroyed without this new penalty? Otherwise republic will become an aweful government.

On PTW:

I agree with Ian Beale on PTW. I don't play multiplayer games (I don't have that much time in a row), but improvements to the game are good, along with the fan made scenarios that would have taken forever to download (because I have a slow internet connection), better editor, and I don't know how to get new unit image files working in the editor (if you would be nice enough can you give me a link to a thread about this?

When I follow the second like the Louis XXIV recently posted, I get told that there is an ING error. The same happens to me when I click on the screens on the side of the screen. Yet all other ING screens work for me. Why?

In another thread I said that the matter is balanced, therefore, there will be a good use for this government.

Yeah that has the Celts in Ireland and Scotland with England taken over by the Romans. The other one was either The Age Of Discovery or some Napoleonic war.... thingy.

this great news let us hope their is more on the way info!
