RFC: BtS Bug Reports

Hello, just installed rhye on my laptop and it doesn't seem to be working as it should.

I pick vikings and the first thing I notice is that my work boat can't be moved anywhere from where it spawned, I try editing in some other work boats, these can move in some but not all of the coastal squares. I keep playing for a while but then it seems that every new civ that spawns autodeclares war on me. So efter twenty rounds I'm at war with england, germany, holland, france and spain. Any idea what I did wrong?

I'm using BTS 3.19 and RFCB1187. A similar setup worked just fine on my old computer, I would really like to get this working as this mod seems like a lot of fun, thanks!

I really haven't tested the latest patch - as I'm too busy modding it  - but I believe that some new rules for Workboats are in effect. This might explain why you can't move them as you'd like. Refer to the change log for specifics.

As for the auto-declare this seems also to be a feature. Historically, the Vikings we're exactly the friendly neighbors in the north, if you know what I mean? So you're probably meant to raid their coastal settlements, steal their gold and ravage their women.

Maybe you could try out some other Civ instead, just to make sure the entire game isn't broken. Then revisit the bearded folk once you get a feel for the mod as such.

Wow! Thanks for the quick response!

Workboats limitation seem to be a feature as you said. But since the change was made to keep workboats from exploring half of the world it may be better to only allow workboats to move within one square from borders OR other non-workboat naval unit.

Thanks again for the quick response and maybe I'll hold of ravaging the germans for a little while.

Another problem with the Vikings is that they won't get any worker in the 600AD start...

EDIT:
BTW, I also found a minor mistake while I was editing Citynamemanager.py.
In the file, there is a Chinense city name called "Tienshui," which presumably stands for 天水.
But in Mandarin 天水 should be called "Tianshui."

The newest RFC file must be somehow broke. Everytime I want to start a 3000BC or 600AD start the game stops in middle of loading saying someone (Ramses, Gilgamesh, Asoka, whoever) has gained a historical victory. What's going on? I never manage to actually play myself. I don't suppose they gain victory all the time, so there must be some kind of error.

I'm not any kind of expert on this, but since only some players get the automatic UHV victory bug it suggests to me that there is something wrong your game/installation. Try removing the entire mod and reinstalling it - in the correct folder. Simply replacing an old version with a new set of files is known to cause issues. As is installing the mod into the wrong place...

I'm just guessing, but... the only time I have had this kind of error is when the allow custom assets variable is set to 1 in the .ini file (if this is the case and you have something in your custom assets folder, it can cause this kind of problem).

@Baldyr: Thanks, followed your advice and everything works fine now. BTW, you're are Lena fan?

Well I'm back again. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling everything from the ground up and I'm still getting the same errors. Halfway through loading the RFC mod I get an infinite number of errors, all in relation to XML files. From the looks of it, not a single XML file is loading correctly. They're all where they need to be, I just dont know what to do anymore.

Can anyone give any advice on how to fix this? Or maybe a proper, step by step, walkthrough on how to install it so I can make absolutely sure I'm doing it right?

I don't know if this applies at all, but I got similar symptoms the first time I tried to mod the XML files. It turned out I wasn't using the proper encoding when I saved my changes. But you would of course be using files that Rhye has saved so the encoding should be alright...

Maybe it could be related, somehow? What OS are you using by the way?

And he says it's not because she's hot and he's not gay or German. Can you imagine?

Spoiler :
Where I live the Eurovision Songfestival is only popular with gay men and straight women.

FYI, the girl happens to be likable, even lovable. You might have been able to pick up on it if you weren't so focused on whether or not she would look good naked, or whether or not it would make you gay otherwise.

And you shouldn't be making comparisons between amateur artists and trained opera singers, or anything like that. Popular music and popular culture is obviously not about being the best artist. Its about being popular and even commercial. But I realize you don't bother with such nonsense, and that is completely fine by me.

But, for the record: Lena did receive special recognition from Dutch gay Eurovision fans, so you're not completely off-base with you homo-phobia!

How come I'm a fan of hers really isn't anyones bees wax, but all I can say is I would much prefer to have a daughter like her before having a gf/lover like her. (Young people mostly make my head ache. But as others have stated before me, Lena is just about everything one could hope for in a young person of today. Go Lena! :goodjob:)

Does this make me gay? (Rhetorical question, don't bother answering.)

@Baldyr:

Spoiler :
So you're an old dude? That explains it.

I'm not at an age yet that I would fantasize how my future daughter would be like.
Likable? I don't know, I don't have to like a girl to think she's hot and want to imagine her naked. I'm 26, so my horny level is pretty much at it's peak right now...

BTW, I'm not homophobic, it's just a fact most straight men don't care for Eurovision except maybe in the case of sparsely-clothed hot lady-singers, but of course you can just turn on MTV and look at Beyoncé or Lady Gaga.

2nd BTW, currently you have the ugliest picture of her so far. I'm not gay and even I can see those glasses are totally wrong for her...
